So I guess we should start with an introduction; my name is Wyman Hamilton and I am a principal in Atlas Senior Living, an owner/operator and management/consulting senior housing company. We are a start-up company and excited to be able to serve seniors in this industry. Prior to Atlas, I was an officer at Brookdale Senior Living and responsible for the operations of 35 communities across Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. During my time there, the occupancy for this region grew from 86% to 94%. Senior housing is in fact all I have ever done. I graduated from Auburn University where I lettered in Track and Field and got a degree in Health Administration. I later graduated with an Executive MBA from the University of Alabama.
Through my early experiences with facility management, I wrote a short book about maneuvering through the maze of being a manager and was fortunate enough to get it published. Click to learn more about my book, “Suddenly Manager.”
I am passionate about seniors and about leadership in general. I thrive on stories and quotes so in this blog you will read many quoted thoughts on leadership as well as stories from the front lines of senior housing. There is a stigma about senior housing we are working to change. It can be an exciting place for seniors to continue their life’s journey and where they can maintain and, in many cases, regain their independence.
