Meet our newest Happy Hour Entertainer!

Randy Gaddo retired after 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as a combat correspondent and photojournalist as an enlisted Marine, and later as a public affairs and media officer. Gaddo is an established, formally trained writer with more than 30 years of experience, having published work in newspapers, magazines, trade publications, and newsletters.

After retiring from the Corps, he spent 15 years in municipal public administration as the director of a city division responsible for parks, recreation, library, and special events for 35,000 citizens and thousands of annual visitors. During that time, he maintained his writing skills by freelancing for magazines and local publications. In 2011, he began full-time freelance work under the umbrella of the company he founded, RGCommunications, with a mission to enrich, inform, and inspire through the written word.

Gaddo has also been a guitarist and singer throughout this time. He began a solo project called “Boomerang” because he is a Baby Boomer who plays music that keeps coming back. Although he’s played guitar for more than 30 years, he doesn’t consider himself a “guitarist,” but rather someone who plays guitar to support his singing habit. He performs with guitar, vocals, and backing tracks to create a full-band sound with a solo footprint, using professional Bose sound equipment for clear, powerful performance delivery.

He earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.

Gaddo and his wife, Ellen, live in Athens, GA, and have three grown children.

Resident of the Month

Ann McCranie

Ann McCranie, Resident of the Month, September 2024 | Legacy Ridge at Peachtree

Our September resident of the month is Ann McCranie!
Ann moved into Legacy over the summer and has quickly found herself right at home. Ann was born in Macon, GA and has lived in Georgia her whole life. While her home has always been the peach state, Ann has enjoyed many travels throughout her life. She has been to many countries and every state in the US except for Alaska. Ann grew up the youngest of 13 children and now she has 4 kids of her own, 6 grandkids, and 1 great-grandkid. Ann remembers the moment she decided she wanted to become a teacher: “in the 5th grade I had a teacher that had one brown dress and one green dress, and that is all she wore. I decided I wanted to become a teacher and never wear the same thing twice in one month”. She spent her career loving ever minute teaching high school English, sociology, and government. Some of Ann’s favorite hobbies include cooking, traveling, and reading. One of her favorite parts about Legacy Ridge at Peachtree is the people. She loves to talk to her neighbors and learn about their fascinating lives and where they’ve been. When asked how she likes her new home, Ann described Legacy Ridge as ‘incredible, from professionalism to the décor to the care. I feel like I’m a new person at 95 years old.” We are so happy to have gotten such a wonderfully kind-spirited and fun-loving addition to our family when Ann moved in.

A Fond Farewell from Kelsey Mock

It has been my complete honor and blessing to serve as Legacy Ridge at Peachtree’s Lifestyle Director for the past two years. It is bittersweet for me to share with you that I will be moving to Alabama to be closer to my husband as we await the birth of our first child. I am excited for this next chapter of my life, however I am extremely sad to leave my legacy family behind. Working at Legacy Ridge has been one of the greatest gifts of my lifeI have cherished every moment of spending time with our residents, and I can only hope that I have left a positive impact on their lives. Legacy is truly and uniquely quite special and will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish every one of our residents, family members, and staff the very best and I can only hope that our paths will cross again in the future. Thank you for allowing me the deep honor of serving your loved ones. The laughter and smiles I shared with them will forever be cherished in my heart.

Associate of the Month

Kimberly Benton

Kimberly Benton, Associate of the Month, September 2024 | Legacy Ridge at Peachtree

Please join us in congratulating our September employee of the month, Kimberly Benton! Kimberly moved to Georgia from Detroit in 2008 and has been here ever since! She did also briefly live in Alabama, but she is happy to call Georgia her home. Kimberly has 3 daughters, 1 son, and 8 grandchildren with one on the way. In her free time, Kimberly enjoys helping her husband with lawn care, working on her T-shirt company (KB Virtue LLC), teaching herself embroidery, traveling, and she is also happy to share that she recently got her realtor’s license. Kimberly has been a CNA for 33 years. She decided upon this career path when she was a young girl, and her church went to visit a nursing home. From that point on, Kimberly knew she wanted to spend her life taking care of our seniors. Her favorite part about working at Legacy Ridge is our residents. Her passion is giving them the care she knows they deserve and treating them with compassion, humanity and respect. Kimberly’s best piece of advice is “do right by others, and blessings will come.” We are so thankful for employees like Kimberly who go above and beyond every single day. You can see Kimberly’s passion for her work simply in her smile.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park

Also known as “The Rockies“, formed 55 million to 80 million years ago during the Laramide orogeny, in which a number of plates began sliding underneath the North American plate. The angle of subduction was shallow, resulting in a broad belt of mountains running down western North America.
