Associate of the Month
Herman Maujay Ryder
This month we highlight Herman! He has been part of Legacy Ridge for over a year and with us at Marietta for about half of that time. He is a young man with great impact and loves what he does as care staff over in Memory Care the majority of time. He is continuing his studies and as a responsible young adult, he is on the quest to make his print in health care. He states that the “greatest thing anyone can do is help people.” He comes from a family of many in health care and can see that for his future as well.
One thing that he notes as the best part of being with residents is “asking about their lives.” To know who they are is important, but to know who they were is equally important.
His favorite part of working isn’t only the residents, he loves his coworkers that make him feel like they are a team. As one of his favorite songs expresses, life can be simple with just serving others, “…days and the wind” (Jodie by SZA)
We congratulate our associate, Herman!
Italian Tradition
Alexa, play“Vivaldi’s Four Seasons”
Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741), “Il Prete Rosso” (The Red Priest) due to his red hair and clerical status, was a Venetian composer, virtuoso violinist, and a key figure of the Baroque era. His innovative compositions and extraordinary violin skills earned him a reputation as one of the most celebrated musicians of his time.
Vivaldi composed over 500 concertos, more than 230 for solo violin, making him one of the most prolific composers for the instrument. The Four Seasons is his most famous work; his music legacy has inspired musicians over the centuries. The Four Seasons was composed around 1721 and published in 1725 in Amsterdam.
Benefits of Music Therapy
Music therapy is an evidence-based practice that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. It has been found to be beneficial in a variety of settings including hospitals and hospices. Music therapy can help reduce pain levels, promote relaxation, improve communication skills, and provide comfort during difficult times.
One way music therapy can be used to reduce pain is through the use of rhythmical breathing techniques. These techniques involve the person focusing on a steady beat while taking slow deep breaths which helps relax the body and mind. This type of intervention has been shown to decrease anxiety levels as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure which can lead to reduced pain levels overall.
Another benefit of music therapy is its ability to promote a state of relaxation by providing a distraction from stressful thoughts or feelings.

Women's History Month 2025
National Women’s History Month, honorary observance of the month of March in the United States, as designated in 1987 by the U.S. Congress, in recognition of women’s many accomplishments throughout history. A variety of agencies, schools, and organizations observe the month by focusing on the “consistently overlooked and undervalued” role of American women in history. Libraries and communities promote special events that emphasize the achievements of women. Similar monthlong observances occur in other countries.
Who are some women you know who are making strides in their community and /or the world? Honor them this month!!

Let's Talk Italian Art!
Italy was at the forefront of the artistic and intellectual developments of the Renaissance, which drew their impetus from a reappraisal of the Classical Greek and Roman world. Artists and scholars in Italy were especially well placed to take the lead in such a revival, since they were surrounded by the material remains of antiquity. Earlier Romanesque and Gothic forms in both art and architecture were supplanted by the Renaissance, which escalated with a flourish into the Baroque styles of the 16th century.
The great names in Italian art through the centuries make a long list that includes, among many others, Giotto, Donatello, Filippo Brunelleschi, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Titian, Bernini, and Tiepolo.
The Renaissance
(Amazing Facts)
The Renaissance wasn’t born overnight—it floated in with Venetian merchants! Their wealth fueled artists like Titian, whose vibrant colors and bold brushwork lit up the art world. Venice’s success was built on silk, spices, and salt, bridging East and West in a golden age of trade. From Marco Polo’s voyages to Venetian glass, this city redefined commerce and culture.
