Bring a pot of water to a boil. Reduce the heat to low (or off) to ensure the water is no longer boiling or has bubbles and use a skimmer to place the eggs in the water. Then increase the heat back to high and set a timer for 14 minutes.
While the eggs are boiling prepare an ice water bath and set aside. After 14 minutes, remove the eggs from the water and place in the ice water bath.
Once the eggs have cooled completely, peel them and slice in half lengthwise. Remove the yolk to a small bowl with a spoon and place the egg whites on a plate.
Mash the yolks with a fork and add the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, salt and pepper. Stir everything together until it’s smooth.
Use a spoon to add a portion of the deviled egg mixture back into the hole of each egg white. Sprinkle on paprika for garnish.

Grand Canyon

Designated a national monument in 1908; President Woodrow Wilson made Grand Canyon a national park to protect the land and the resources within it in 1919.

Discovering National Parks
Grand Canyon

This month in our discovering national parks series we will be exploring The Grand Canyon. The history of the Grand Canyon begins approximately six million years with the Colorado River being the cause of its creation. The Colorado River slowly eroded the land beneath it forming the spectacularly deep canyon that we all know today. People have lived at Grand Canyon for thousands of years. Throughout time, they found shelter, food, and water to survive. Artifacts, objects left behind from past cultures, give scientists clues about how people lived in the past. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson made Grand Canyon a national park to protect the land and the resources within it, managed by the National Park Service. The United Nations declared the park a World Heritage Site in 1979. This name has helped the canyon become famous worldwide.

tPlease join our many activities that will center around the grand canyon. Please come with stories or pictures if you have visited this astounding site. Don’t forget your passport to get stamped to earn a Grand Canyon memento.
