Daysha says the innocence in her daughter’s eyes push er to be a better person for them both. She enjoys family time, vacations, trying new restaurants and going to the beach. Her motto to live by “anything in life worth having comes from lots of patience and hard work.”

International Women's Day

International Women's Day

Every year on March 8th, people around the world come together to celebrate International Women’s Day. This day is a time to honor the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, as well as to raise awareness about the ongoing struggle for gender equality.

The history of International Women’s Day dates back to the early 20th century, when women in many countries were beginning to demand better working conditions, the right to vote, and equal pay for equal work. The first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911, and since then it has grown into a global movement that seeks to empower women and girls, advance women’s rights, and challenge gender stereotypes and discrimination.

One of the key messages of International Women’s Day is the importance of promoting gender equality. Despite significant progress in recent decades, women still face many challenges, including barriers to education, employment, and leadership positions. Gender-based violence and discrimination are still prevalent in many parts of the world, and women continue to be underrepresented in decision-making processes and in fields such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

As we celebrate International Women’s Day this year, let us remember the progress that has been made, but also let us make the most of this opportunity to honor the achievements of women, and to work together towards a more just and equitable world for all. Happy International Women’s Day!

Purim

My name is Athena and I have lived quite a life! I don’t know much but I know enough and well, I would love to offer advice to anyone who needs it! Send your stories or that of your friend-and I will pick a letter each month and respond with advice! Now, I can’t promise my advice will be the solution, but it will be something you may not have access to-the critique of an uninvolved party! Don’t worry about who I am and DO NOT sign your letter! We want to keep your identity safe!

Adjusting to a New Home

Adjusting to a New Home

Adjusting to a new home can be challenging, especially for senior citizens who may have lived in their previous residence for many years. However, with some simple strategies and a positive attitude, seniors can successfully transition to their new living space.

First, it’s important for seniors to take their time unpacking and organizing their new home. Setting small goals each day can make the process more manageable and less overwhelming. Creating a comfortable and familiar environment can also help seniors feel more at ease in their new space.

Second, staying connected with friends and family can help seniors feel less isolated in their new home. Setting up regular phone calls or video chats with loved ones can provide a sense of familiarity and support during the transition. Additionally, joining a local senior center or community group can help seniors meet new people and build a support network in their new neighborhood.

Lastly, maintaining a routine can help seniors feel more settled in their new home. Setting aside time for daily activities, such as exercise, hobbies, and socializing, can provide a sense of structure and purpose. Seniors should also make an effort to explore their new surroundings, whether it’s taking a walk in the neighborhood or visiting nearby parks and attractions.

Adjusting to a new home can take time, but by taking small steps, staying connected with loved ones, and maintaining a routine, seniors can successfully adapt to their new living space!

Christine Scozzaro

Christine Scozzaro Resident of the Month

Christine was born and raised in the Boston area of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts! Her main career was in finance as she worked at the First national Bank of Boston. She spent most of her life there getting married and raising a family that included 4 boys and 1 girl until she moved to Wellington, Florida some 40 plus years ago. Her husband and her owned a home here and they were happy. She moved to The Atrium in May of 2021, sadly after her husband passed away. She loves the beach, going to the movies and eating ravioli! She has quite a few grandchildren and enjoys spending time with them when she can-but of course she doesn’t think it is ever enough. Her advice to everyone is to study hard and find a good job!

Grand Canyon

The Hopi Tribe considers the Grand Canyon a gateway to afterlife. There are over 1,000 caves within the park’s territory with only 335 being documented.
