Resident of the Month

Leon Isaacs

It is with great pleasure to recognize Leon Isaacs as our August Resident of the Month. Leon joined our community in January 2024. He grew up in California and went to California Polytechnic State University and became a Mechanical Engineer. He worked for Boeing in missile defense in California and space stations in Huntsville, Alabama. He was married to his wife, Ida, and they had two children, Julie and Kevin. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to Europe and Jamaica. They eventually retired to Florida. Leon enjoys watching sports, especially the Rams, Dodgers and Lakers. His family describes him as jovial, funny and friendly. We all agree, Leon is a great guy and we are so happy he calls Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains home!

Family Fun at Sandy Plains

We love it when families come visit their loved ones.

From the Executive Director, Cindy Brown

Dear Sandy Plains Family and Friends, I wish each of you a happy August. I have been busy at Sandy Plains this month with the addition of several new care staff members and hiring a new Wellness Director, Darrell Brown, and returning to Sandy Plains is Brian Swindell as our Maintenance Director.

Please join me in welcoming these talented individuals to our community. As always, my door is always open to you. I invite you to join us for our many musical events this month and Wine Down Wednesday, August 14th at 6:00 p.m. See you at Sandy Plains, Cindy.

A Legacy of Love

We celebrated a special wedding anniversary recently for two of our residents at Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains. Evalee and Adrian Swanstrom celebrated 71 years of marriage. We had a special celebration for the lovely couple during our Wine Down Wednesday and they shared a romantic lunch with a table for two in our main dining room earlier in the day. When asked about the secret for being married for 71 years, Adrian shared the secret, “there is no secret!”.
We are honored to have this beautiful inspirational couple reside at Sandy Plains.

Not Your Mother’s Bingo

We focus on fun and engaging activities for our residents. Who says bingo is boring? Try our flamingo bingo or join us for a lipstick party or a rousing game of volleyball badminton or sing along with our wonderful entertainers. If you have an idea for a new activity or event contact Penney Williams, Lifestyle Director. We are always looking for creative additions to our activity schedule

Associate of the Month

B’onta Taylor

B’onta Taylor Associate of the Month August 2024

Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains Announces B’onta Taylor Associate of the Month for August. She is a smart, caring and dedicated Med Tech in our community. She just celebrated her one-year anniversary at Sandy Plains. B’onta has been in the Health Care field for over 20 years. Ready for a change, she and her family moved to Georgia from North Caroline. She has four children, one grandchild and one on the way. Recently, her daughter joined the care team at Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains.
B’onta prides herself on being a problem solver and exhibiting grace under pressure. Many co-workers seek her advice. Her advice to new staff is to keep an open mind and remember our residents are making huge changes in their lives by joining our community. B’onta feels in many ways we become the extended family of our residents. She reminds those staff that work with our Spirit/Memory Care residents they need special skills and to be flexible. B’onta has a take charge attitude and is very organized. Eventually she wants to go back to school to become a nurse or nurse practitioner. When she is not working, she enjoys time with her family, watching crime thrillers on TV and on-line shopping.
We are so grateful to have such a talented and dedicated team member on staff at Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains. What a stellar role model for her daughter and staff at our community. Congratulations B’onta!
