Louise Presley-Toomer

Louise Presley-Toomer

Louise Presley-Toomer is a phenomenal Medication Aide and a cherished member of our Wildcat family. She has been with Wildcat Senior Living for over a year, consistently showing compassion, dedication, and genuine love for our residents each and every day.

Born and raised right here in Charleston, South Carolina—with a few years spent in Virginia (though we promise not to hold that against her!)—Louise brings true Southern heart to everything she does. She is the proud mother of two amazing daughters: her oldest is a talented pastry chef who keeps everyone’s sweet tooth satisfied, while her youngest is a hardworking general contractor who’s busy building future homes.

Louise has been serving seniors and supporting families for more than 11 years, and her passion for providing care to those who need it most shines through in all she does. She takes great pride in ensuring that each resident receives not only their medications accurately and on time, but also a kind word, a reassuring smile, and a personal connection.

Outside of work, Louise enjoys good soul food—especially a hearty homemade beef stew—and loves spending quiet moments reading or spending quality time with her beloved daughters.

We are incredibly grateful for Louise’s professionalism, attentiveness, and compassion. Her steady presence and warm heart make a remarkable difference in the lives of our residents and team alike. Thank you, Louise, for your unwavering dedication and for being such a vital part of the Wildcat Senior Living family!

Australian Joy

Alexa, play Down Under, by Men at work.

Released in 1981, “Down Under” quickly became a defining song of Australian identity. With its catchy flute riff and witty lyrics, it celebrates the country’s laid-back spirit, humor, and pride. More than a global hit, it remains an unofficial anthem—an upbeat tribute to Australia’s culture, people, and sense of adventure.

Sunday Spiritual Outing to Summerville Family Worship

In October, our Wildcat residents shared a beautiful morning of fellowship and faith during our Sunday Spiritual outing to Summerville Family Worship Center. From the moment we arrived, the congregation’s warmth and hospitality made everyone feel like part of their family. Residents were uplifted by the powerful message, joyful worship music, and heartfelt prayers that filled the sanctuary.

After service, we gathered for conversation and light refreshments, where our residents shared reflections about what faith, gratitude, and community mean to them. For many, it was the first time in quite a while they’d attended an in-person church service—and the sense of belonging and connection was truly moving.

This outing reminded us that spiritual wellness is an important piece of overall health, nurturing the soul just as we nurture the body and mind. It was a Sunday of joy, reflection, and renewal that strengthened our Wildcat community’s bond. We extend a heartfelt thank-you to the team at Summerville Family Worship for opening their doors and hearts to us—we can’t wait to worship together again soon!

Welcome to Australia
Around the World with Atlas

Australia, the world’s largest island and smallest continent, is a land of striking contrasts—from its vast deserts and tropical rainforests to its bustling coastal cities. Indigenous Australians have lived on the continent for over 60,000 years, developing rich spiritual traditions and deep connections to the land. Their art, music, and stories remain an essential part of the nation’s cultural identity today.

European settlement began in 1788 with the arrival of the First Fleet from Britain, marking the start of Australia’s colonial era. British influence shaped the nation’s language, institutions, and political systems, though this period also brought immense hardship to Indigenous communities. Over time, Australia evolved from a collection of colonies into a unified federation in 1901, forging its own democratic and multicultural identity.

Modern Australia is known for its relaxed lifestyle, love of the outdoors, and vibrant cultural mix. From iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Uluru to its world-class art, music, and sport, the country reflects both its ancient heritage and modern dynamism—a place where tradition and innovation coexist under the southern sun.

Wildcat Wanders: Lions, Tigers, and Bears (Oh My!)

Our Wildcat Wanders trip in October took us on a wild adventure to Riverbanks Zoo—and it was a day packed with fun, discovery, and laughter! Residents delighted in seeing everything from lions and tigers to penguins, giraffes, and elephants. The sparkle in everyone’s eyes as we watched the animals up close was priceless.

Throughout the day, the conversation flowed with stories of family trips, favorite animals, and memories of childhood zoo visits. We even caught glimpses of playful baby monkeys and feeding time at the flamingo habitat! After exploring the zoo, our group headed to a nearby restaurant for lunch, where the chatter continued over good food and shared smiles.

Outings like these remind us how refreshing it is to get out, explore, and connect with nature—and each other. The laughter, photos, and excitement made this Wildcat Wanders trip one for the memory books. We’re already looking forward to our next adventure together!

2nd Annual Wildcat Car Show: A Revved-Up Success!

October brought the return of one of our most anticipated events—the 2nd Annual Wildcat Car Show! Residents, families, and community members gathered to admire a gleaming lineup of classic cars, muscle cars, and vintage favorites. From shiny chrome to roaring engines, there was something for everyone to “ooh” and “ahh” over.

Our parking lot was transformed into a car lover’s dream, filled with nostalgia and storytelling. Residents swapped memories of their first cars, family road trips, and the thrill of cruising down the highway in the good old days. Visitors enjoyed live music, refreshments from our culinary team, and the upbeat energy that filled the air.

A special thank-you goes to all the car owners who showcased their prized vehicles and shared their passion with our residents. Events like this remind us how joy, memories, and community can come together in the simplest yet most special ways. With the smell of popcorn in the air and engines humming in harmony, the Wildcat Car Show was a true celebration of connection and classic style!

Church of Cane Bay Family Night in Memory Care

Our Memory Care neighborhood came alive in October as we hosted a wonderful Family Night with Church of Cane Bay! The evening was filled with laughter, games, and heartwarming fellowship that brought together residents, families, and our friends from the church for a night of joy and togetherness.

Tables were full of games like bingo, dominoes, trivia, and ring toss—each one sparking laughter and cheerful competition. The room buzzed with happiness as residents shared snacks, swapped stories, and connected with loved ones. Volunteers from Church of Cane Bay filled the evening with their signature kindness and positivity, creating a truly special atmosphere.

Moments like these are what make Wildcat feel like home. Family Night gave our residents a sense of community and belonging that extends beyond our walls, reminding us that love and laughter are powerful medicine for the heart. We are so thankful to the Church of Cane Bay for their partnership and compassion—it was a night to remember and one we can’t wait to repeat!

Bessie

Bessie

Born on October 12, 1937, in Camden, South Carolina, Bessie has always been surrounded by the love of a close-knit family, including her two brothers, half-brother, and sister. Her family remained nearby throughout the years, and her great-nephews affectionately refer to her and her brother Jerry as “Nana and Papa.”

Known for her warm and welcoming personality, Bessie can often be found at the Wildcat front desk, chatting with friends, greeting visitors, and sharing her signature smile with everyone who walks by.

Bessie began her career in 1958 working at a Manhattan shirt factory before joining the Welfare Department in Charleston, where she devoted over 30 years of service. She retired in 1990, cherishing the many friendships she made during her career and the lasting impact she had on those around her.

Outside of work, Bessie enjoyed more than three decades of square and ballroom dancing with her beloved brother Jerry. Together, they attended Broadway shows, sports events, and shared countless joyful moments pursuing their mutual passions. In her personal time, Bessie has always loved reading and cross-stitching, two hobbies that showcase her creativity and focus.

Her Southern roots shine through in her love of fried chicken and her lifelong joy for Christmas, her favorite holiday—a time filled with laughter, family, and togetherness.

But what truly sets Bessie apart is her lighthearted and adventurous spirit. She’s known for her quick wit and hilarious sense of humor, always keeping the Wildcat team laughing—especially our Wellness Director, Adam, who she loves to keep on his toes with her playful pranks and jokes. Her ability to fill the day with laughter and joy is one of the many reasons we adore her.

Here at Wildcat, Bessie is a treasured part of our community. She enjoys playing bingo, attending friends and family events, and brightening every room she enters with her humor, kindness, and zest for life. A true gem, Bessie has brought so much joy to her Wildcat family over the past year, and we look forward to many more memories and laughs with her!
