Dorothy Noblett

Ms. Dorothy ‘Dot’ Noblett was the youngest of 11 children born in 1930 in a small western Kentucky town.

Dorothy never considered any of those facts be a drawback, instead she loves talking about her roots and raisings. She used them to become the caring, generous, hardworking, fun-loving mother from whom her 3 children learned (and are still learning) life skills.

Dorothy was the first in her family to graduate from college and later went on to get her master’s degree in education. She taught school for almost 50 years, and then even participated in substitute teaching after retiring. She loves to talk about her time at Western Kentucky University and so proud of being a Hilltopper!

She married her childhood neighbor Robert but widowed too early at age 51. She may be proudest of being Grandma Dot to her 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy came from a family of naturally talented musicians and loves playing the piano. With her faith being her foundation, she loves playing hymns but can also break out a good ‘boogie woogie’ tune.

She never turned down a new adventure from horseback riding at Calloway Gardens, canoeing on the Harpeth River to Ghost Tours in Savannah and traveling to Israel, Europe and Hawaii.

She didn’t think twice about going on road trips with her sister-in- law Bobbie or her best friend Maxine traveling down Route 66 and the eastern sea coast.

One of her favorite sayings as she started her ‘golden years’ was ‘Growing old is not for sissies.’

Dorothy continues to show daily exactly what she is made of! We have loved having her and her family as part of our very own Wildcat Family and look forward to many more adventures and memories!
