Associate of the Month

Samantha Wright

Samantha Wright

Samantha Wright was born in Wellsville, New York. Shortly after her birth, her father joined the United States Air Force, beginning a journey that would take her family across the country and around the world. During her childhood, Samantha lived in Colorado Springs, England, Florida, and Arkansas—experiences that shaped her adaptability, resilience, and appreciation for different cultures and communities.
It was in Arkansas that Samantha met her future husband, Michael, in 2005. The two were married in 2008, and together they built a life rooted in love, service, and family. They welcomed their first daughter, Cadence, in 2009, followed by Olivia in 2011. Soon after, Samantha and her family were stationed in England once again, then relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where their son, Michael Jr. (MJ), was born in 2017. The family eventually settled in Summerville, South Carolina, and in 2022, they celebrated the arrival of their youngest child, Timothy.
For 15 years, Samantha dedicated herself fully to her role as a stay-at-home mother. She lovingly raised her four children while supporting Michael’s career in the Air Force—a role she embraced with deep commitment and joy. After Michael’s retirement, Samantha began to pursue her own career path. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, driven by a lifelong passion for caring for others. Her work in the healthcare field has proven to be both meaningful and rewarding, aligning perfectly with her natural compassion and desire to make a difference.
Outside of her professional life, Samantha cherishes time spent with her family. Whether they’re watching or playing baseball, enjoying cozy movie nights at home, or spending time with their beloved puppy, Tila, the moments they share are filled with laughter, love, and togetherness. Samantha’s life is a reflection of her values—faith, family, and service—and her journey continues to be guided by grace, purpose, and unwavering devotion to those she loves.
At Wildcat Senior Living, we are truly grateful to have someone like Samantha on our team. Her warmth, patience, and genuine care make a lasting impact on our Wildcat Memory Care Residents, and her dedication brings comfort, joy, and dignity to every life she touches. She is not just a valued team member—she is part of what makes our community so special.

Sounds of Peru

Alexa play "El Condor Pasa" from "Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán"

Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, Música de América1988

“El Cóndor Pasa” is so iconic that, in 2004, Peru declared it part of the nation’s cultural heritage. The original version is an orchestral piece from the 1913 zarzuela El Cóndor Pasa, composed by Peruvian musician Daniel Alomía Robles and inspired by traditional Andean music.

In this beautiful rendition, from 1988, Mariachi Vargas takes this iconic piece and gracefully infuses it with the soul of Mexican mariachi, the piece honors that precious majesty of the Andes spirit but also reimagining it through their signature instrumentation and emotion-rich style.

Around the World with Atlas – Destination: Mexico! May Recap!

In May, Wildcat Senior Living joyfully celebrated our monthly theme: Around the World with Atlas – Destination: Mexico! And what a vibrant and unforgettable experience it was!

As part of the Atlas Senior Living family, we embraced a fun and enriching cultural journey, kicking off with the colorful sights, sounds, and flavors of Mexico. Throughout the month of May, our residents, their families, and the entire Wildcat team came together to enjoy a wide variety of Hispanic-inspired activities.

From festive taco tastings and warm churros to music, dance, trivia, and hands-on crafts, every event brought joy and a sense of connection. Our armchair travel experiences transported residents to famous Mexican landmarks and celebrations, sparking curiosity and conversations that enriched our community in meaningful ways.
One of the most memorable highlights of the month was our Friends and Family Dinner, where residents and their loved ones gathered for an evening filled with delicious food, heartfelt laughter, and shared memories. The festive atmosphere was a true reflection of the vibrant culture we were honoring—and the strong bonds within our Wildcat family.

At Wildcat Senior Living, we are proud to create opportunities that celebrate diversity, foster learning, and bring people together. May’s theme allowed us to do just that, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it such a success.

¡Gracias to all who participated—we hope you join us for our next destination!

Celebrating Mother’s Day at Wildcat Senior Living: A Week of Love and Appreciation

At Wildcat Senior Living, we believe in honoring the remarkable women who have shaped generations with their love, strength, and wisdom. This May, we celebrated Mother’s Day with a heartfelt week of events that brought residents, families, and team members together in joy and gratitude.

The celebration began with a beautifully hosted Mother’s Day Tea, where residents gathered for an elegant afternoon of tea, delicate pastries, and warm conversation. Floral centerpieces, soft music, and thoughtful details made the event feel truly special, allowing us to honor each mother and grandmother in our community with the grace and elegance they deserve.

Later, we welcomed families back for a festive Mother’s Day Brunch, complete with a delicious chef-prepared menu and meaningful time shared around the table. Laughter, storytelling, and plenty of hugs filled the room, creating new memories while celebrating cherished ones.

These events were more than just meals—they were moments of connection and appreciation. We are deeply grateful to all who joined us in making this week so memorable. At Wildcat Senior Living, it is our joy and privilege to celebrate the mothers who make our community so vibrant and full of love.

Honoring Memorial Day at Wildcat Senior Living

At Wildcat Senior Living, Memorial Day is a time to pause, reflect, and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. This year, our residents, families, visitors, and team members came together to commemorate this important day with heartfelt gratitude and unity.

The community was beautifully decorated in red, white, and blue, setting the tone for a day of remembrance. Our residents, including many proud veterans, shared personal memories and reflections, sparking meaningful conversations and honoring those they served alongside. A special Memorial Day tribute table was set up in the common area, featuring photos, military memorabilia, and remembrance of loved ones.

Guests and families were invited to join us for a Memorial Day luncheon, where we served classic American favorites and honored our heroes through shared stories and moments of connection. Patriotic music played softly in the background as we reflected on the sacrifices that have shaped our nation’s freedom.

At Wildcat Senior Living, it is our privilege to honor the legacy of those who served. Memorial Day is more than a date on the calendar—it is a powerful reminder of the courage, commitment, and sacrifice that define true heroism.

Resident of the Month

Debora Berry Taylor

Debora Berry Taylor

Deborah Jo Berry was born on July 24, 1952, to Clinton and Betty Berry. She was the third of eight children, with six sisters and one brother. Born in Albany, Georgia, Deborah was raised in Miller County, where she developed a strong competitive spirit—especially when it came to sports. Whether competing with her sisters or the local boys, Deborah always strived to be the best.
She particularly excelled in basketball, known for her skills as both a ball handler and scorer. During the summer before her senior year at Miller County High School, her parents moved the family to Charleston, South Carolina, in search of better job opportunities. Though Deborah had the chance to stay in Georgia with relatives and complete her final year of high school there, her deep connection to her family led her to move with them.
Deborah enrolled at Stall High School in North Charleston for her senior year. She tried out for the varsity basketball team and quickly made her mark—becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer and earning a place in the Stall High School Hall of Fame for scoring the most points in a single game.
After graduation, Deborah enrolled in college but didn’t stay long. She became homesick and returned to North Charleston, where she began working part-time while attending the College of Charleston. Later, she transferred to Trident Technical College and earned a degree in Industrial Science. Her professional journey began in a laboratory, but when she heard the federal government was hiring at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, she applied and was hired in 1984 to work in the Safety Office, where her role involved asbestos testing and removal.
It was at the shipyard—onboard a submarine during reactor plant testing—that I first met Deborah. She reminded me to put on my safety glasses. I explained I couldn’t read the meter properly with them on, and the shift test engineer asked her to leave the sub during testing. Later that day, both the engineer and I apologized to her and her supervisor.
A few days later, we passed each other on the street. I thought about fussing at her, but when she smiled, my heart raced. I fell in love. We dated for a while and married on November 24, 1989. Deborah had a son from a previous marriage, and I had one from mine. Together, we welcomed a son in 1994.
When the Charleston Naval Shipyard was placed on the closure list, Deborah decided to change careers. She enrolled in night classes at Trident Tech to pursue nursing—her lifelong dream. In November 1994, I accepted a job at Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi. Deborah transferred to Mississippi University for Women and earned her nursing degree. Always ambitious, she went on to complete a Master’s in Nursing with honors at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Although she initially struggled to find nurse practitioner positions in Mississippi, she eventually accepted a role in pediatric care in Marion County, South Carolina. We moved to Marion, where she served the community for eight years. Wanting to be closer to family again, she applied for a position at Palmetto Family Primary Practice in Summerville, SC, where she worked alongside Dr. Castillon and Dr. Steward.
Deborah flourished in her medical career, consistently earning 5-star ratings for her compassionate and expert care. Never one to settle, she expanded her work into hospice care and managed the in-house clinic at The Villages in Summerville.
Deborah retired at the end of 2021, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, compassion, and dedication—in both her professional life and her family.
