The Tudor Rose

A timeless symbol of unity, the Tudor Rose combines the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York—emblems of rival houses during the Wars of the Roses. When Henry VII united the two through marriage, this floral symbol became a lasting emblem of peace and the English crown.

Associate of the Month

Elizabeth Trice

Elizabeth, Associate of the Month, August 2025

This month, we’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on someone who embodies the heart and soul of Wildcat Senior Living — Elizabeth Trice, our dedicated and deeply compassionate Medication Technician.
Originally from the Midwest, Elizabeth was drawn to the South by its warm charm and beautiful beaches — but it’s the people and purpose she’s found here that truly made it home. With over 35 years of experience in caregiving, Elizabeth brings not just knowledge, but a calling. Her passion for helping others runs deep, and it shows in every interaction she has with residents, families, and team members alike.
Elizabeth is a proud mother of four, and it’s clear that nurturing comes naturally to her. She finds immense joy in her children, her work, and her lifelong love of music. Known for her beautiful singing voice, Elizabeth often graces our halls with melodies that lift spirits and soothe hearts. Whether it’s a quiet tune during medication rounds or an impromptu performance for a resident who needs a smile, her music is a true gift to our community.
What sets Elizabeth apart is her unique blend of patience, empathy, and meticulous attention to detail. She brings a calm confidence to her work, ensuring each resident receives not only the correct care, but also a kind word and a warm presence. Her ability to connect — to truly see and understand those around her — makes her a pillar of trust and comfort for the residents she serves.
From administering medications with precision to sharing songs that bring back cherished memories, Elizabeth goes above and beyond in every way. She is a consistent, caring force on our team and someone we all look up to.
We are so proud to recognize Elizabeth Trice as this month’s Employee Spotlight. Her unwavering dedication, radiant positivity, and wholehearted commitment make Wildcat a better place for everyone.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for the joy, care, and harmony you bring to our community. You are truly one of a kind!

English Heart

Alexa play The Bewlay Brothers" from "David Bowie"

Hunky Dory, David Bowie, 1971

Eerie, poetic, and elusive, “The Bewlay Brothers” closes Hunky Dory (1971) like a dream you’re not quite sure you had. With surreal lyrics and a whispered outro, Bowie weaves a strange tale filled with fractured identity and buried emotions. Many interpret it as a cryptic nod to his relationship with his half-brother Terry, but Bowie always left its meaning deliberately obscure. The result is one of his most haunting creations — unsettling, intimate, and unforgettable.

Around the World with Atlas: Wildcat’s Journey to England

This August, Wildcat Senior Living sets sail across the Atlantic as part of our “Around the World with Atlas” program—this time landing in England! Throughout the month, residents will explore the charm, history, and culture of this iconic country through themed activities, entertainment, and, of course, food.

We’ll dive into English history and landmarks with armchair travel sessions featuring London, the English countryside, and royal sites. Residents can enjoy afternoon tea socials, try their hand at British pub trivia, and take part in traditional English pastimes like garden games and poetry readings.

Our creative spirit will shine during craft sessions inspired by English symbols—from Big Ben and the Union Jack to English rose gardens. Residents will also enjoy classic British films and musical performances celebrating famous English artists from The Beatles to Adele.

The month will culminate in a special “Friends and Family Night – A Royal Affair,” where guests will enjoy music and a delicious menu that may feature anything from fish and chips to bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, or English trifle. Stay tuned to see what delicacies Chef Eileen and the Wildcat culinary team may whip up!

August promises to be a jolly good time—full of elegance, exploration, and English delights. Cheers to another unforgettable cultural adventure!

Welcome to England
Around the World with Atlas

England’s story begins long before it was called by that name—when Celtic Britons inhabited its misty hills and Roman legions reached the edge of their empire in a land they called Britannia. Though Rome left its mark with roads, baths, and Hadrian’s Wall, the far north—home to fierce tribes and enigmatic druids—remained unconquered. After the Romans withdrew, waves of Saxon settlers shaped a new identity, giving birth to a nation where myth and history often blur.

At the heart of this early tapestry is the legend of King Arthur, the once and future king said to have united Britain with the help of Merlin the wizard, the sword Excalibur, and the noble Knights of the Round Table. Whether myth or memory, these tales reveal England’s deep-rooted fascination with destiny, honor, and the magic of storytelling—traditions that would shape its greatest literary voices.

From the poetic grandeur of Shakespeare to the epic realms of J.R.R. Tolkien and the modern wizarding world of J.K. Rowling, English literature has enchanted readers across centuries. And in music, few countries have left such a global imprint. With sounds ranging from the rebellious rock of The Rolling Stones to the dreamscapes of Pink Floyd, and the timeless genius of The Beatles and David Bowie, England’s cultural output is as powerful and enduring as its history.

Around the World with Atlas: July Recap – "Celebrating America"

At Wildcat Senior Living, our “Around the World with Atlas” program continues to take residents on exciting cultural journeys each month—and in July, we brought it home with “Celebrating America!” From sea to shining sea, we explored the rich and diverse landscapes, cultures, and cuisines of our very own country.

Throughout the month, residents enjoyed armchair travels to iconic regions across the U.S., dove into state-themed trivia, and got creative with patriotic crafts, including beautifully decorated oyster shells in American flag designs. Our celebration of American traditions and regional flavors was both educational and inspiring.

The highlight of the month was our Festive Fourth of July poolside party, and our “Friends and Family Night – A Taste of the USA.” Residents, families, and friends gathered for an unforgettable evening featuring a live band and a delicious spread of American favorites from coast to coast—homemade Chicago deep-dish pizza, New England clam chowder, Arizona cheese crisp, Southwest chili, California rolls, and Crab Louie. We ended the night with a sweet slice of nostalgia: classic American pie.

As we journey into August, we look forward to exploring a brand-new country together. Thank you to everyone who made July so memorable!

Wildcat Senior Living’s Vendor Fair Extravaganza & Back-to-School Drive

At Wildcat Senior Living, community is at the heart of everything we do—and this month, we were thrilled to host our First Annual Vendor Fair and Blood Drive Extravaganza, welcoming residents, associates, families, and friends for a day filled with giving, shopping, and celebration!
The event was an incredible success, featuring a wide variety of local vendors and merchants who brought their unique wares, treats, and treasures right to our doorstep. Guests enjoyed browsing booths from Senior Helpers, Bristol Hospice, Heavenly Aroma, Garden Sapphire, Chain Reaction (permanent jewelry), and the popular Sweet Sips Cafe Food Truck, among others. It was a festive atmosphere full of connection, discovery, and joy.
We were also proud to partner with The Blood Connection to host a life-saving blood drive alongside the fair. Our goal was 18 donors—and we surpassed it!
• Registered Donors: 22
• First-Time Donors: 14
• Scheduled Donors: 18 (All no-shows were followed up with encouragement.)
• 14 pints of whole blood donated, helping to save an estimated 42 lives!
This outstanding turnout exceeded our expectations, and we’re already looking forward to growing the event next year!
As we carry that generous spirit into the season ahead, Wildcat Senior Living is proud to kick off our Back-to-School Drive, aimed at collecting and filling backpacks with essential school supplies for students in our local and surrounding communities. With your help, we hope to ensure that every child starts the school year with confidence, dignity, and the tools they need to succeed.
We are now accepting donations of backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, glue sticks, folders, and more. Every little bit helps, and we welcome both individual items and fully packed backpacks. Please visit our flyers around the community or check our Facebook page for a full list of suggested supplies and important deadlines.
Final Day to Donate: August 22nd
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Vendor Fair, donated blood, or supported in spirit. And thank you in advance to all who will help us make this year’s Back-to-School Drive a huge success. Together, we’re making a difference—one event, one student, one life at a time.

Summer Fun in the Sun: Pool Party Days at Wildcat!

At Wildcat Senior Living, we’ve been making a splash all summer long with our exciting Poolside Pool Party Days! Residents, associates, and guests have gathered around the pool to soak up the sun, enjoy great company, and celebrate the season with laughter, music, and refreshing fun.

Held regularly throughout the summer, our pool parties have featured festive themes, tropical treats, frozen drinks, music, and games. Residents have enjoyed everything from water boat racing to lounging poolside with mocktails in hand, and some have even dipped their toes in during chair exercises and water aerobics.

Whether it’s the sounds of classic summer hits playing, colorful leis being passed around, or the joy of connecting with friends in a vibrant, breezy setting, these events have truly captured the spirit of summer at Wildcat.
And if you haven’t made it to one yet—don’t worry! Summer isn’t over. There’s still plenty of sunshine ahead, and more Pool Party Days are on the way as we continue to make the most of this joyful season.

Our team has loved seeing the smiles, hearing the laughter, and sharing these special moments with our community. After summer winds down, we’ll carry the memories (and the sunshine!) with us—and we’ll look forward to more splashes and smiles next year.

Thank you to everyone who’s joined us poolside so far—we’ll see you at the next splash!

Resident of the Month

Ann Hutchings

In loving Memory of
In Loving Memory of Ann, August 2025

This month, we honor the life of a truly special member of our Wildcat Senior Living family — Ann Hutchings. Though she lived with us for just over a year, Ann made an unforgettable impact. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit brought light to every corner of our community.
Born in Danville, Virginia, and raised in Richmond, Ann carried the charm and strength of her Southern roots throughout a life filled with love and adventure. Her journey took her across the globe — from the U.S. to Scotland and Jakarta, Indonesia — but no matter where she was, Ann had a rare gift for making people feel at home. She never met a stranger.
Ann dedicated 30 years to serving others at Summerville Medical Center, where she was deeply respected for her compassion and calm presence. Patients and coworkers alike remember her for her empathy and her unwavering ability to make people feel seen, heard, and cared for.
Ann’s childhood memories of summers spent riding horses on Bent Mountain remained close to her heart. That love of horses carried into adulthood, especially as she proudly became a “horse show mom” to her daughter, Erin. She also coached her son Paul’s soccer team, cheering him on from the sidelines with unmatched enthusiasm.
Her adventurous spirit was contagious — whether sailing, exercising, traveling, or spending time at the beach, Ann embraced life wholeheartedly. But the role she cherished most was being “Pama,” the cool, fun-loving grandma to her grandson, Cameron. Their bond was full of laughter, joy, and unforgettable moments.
Here at Wildcat, Ann was more than a resident — she was a friend, a bright presence, and a daily inspiration. Her thoughtful words, kind gestures, and easy laughter made our days better. She showed us all what it means to live with heart.
Ann Hutchings made Wildcat feel more like home — and she made the world warmer, brighter, and more joyful. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the family and friends who carry her memory forward.
We miss her deeply and remember her with love and gratitude.
