Feel Good: Therapy Horses Bring Big Smiles to Marietta Seniors

MARIETTA, GA — It was a day filled with smiles, hoofbeats, and happy hearts at Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains!

Thanks to the generous efforts of Sarah from Cornerstone Hospice and Cindy from Whittle Hooves, two adorable therapy horses—Sparky and Sunny—made a special appearance at the senior living community, instantly becoming the stars of the day.

Residents flocked to meet the pint-sized duo, taking turns petting their soft coats and admiring their fabulous horseshoes. Sparky, a total charmer, even got the VIP treatment, visiting one lucky resident’s apartment for a one-on-one cuddle session. Therapy animals like Sparky and Sunny don’t only bring joy to the residents—they also bring an abundance of emotional and therapeutic benefits, from reducing stress to boosting moods.

“I’ve never seen so many smiles in one place,” said Amy Cole, Regional Sales and Marketing Director of Legacy Ridge at Sandy Plains. “It’s amazing how Sparky and Sunny lit up the room—there’s something truly magical about animals and the way they connect with people. We’re beyond grateful to Cornerstone Hospice and Whittle Hooves for making this day possible!”
