Janet and Tilden are two of the kindest people you could ever meet. We all enjoy stopping by for a chat with them and truly enjoy the stories that share.

Celebrating Older Americans Month

Celebrating Older Americans Month

In March we participated in the senior expo along with other members of Chattahoochee Valley community. May observes Older Americans Month. We celebrate our residents and honor them for their contributions made to the world. We can learn so much from our seniors. From their wisdom and experience to their strength and resilience, our elders have so much to offer. It is important to recognize and appreciate them for all they have done and still do.

Arches

There are 2,000 natural sandstone arches, hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive rock fins, and giant balanced rocks

Healthy, Whole, and Holistic

At Legacy Reserve at Old Town we believe in nurturing the whole individual. We provide opportunities for our residents to care for their minds, bodies, and souls. Fitness classes are provided 5-6 days a week. Our residents enjoy arts and crafts, massages, musical, and theater performances regularly. Health chats and wellness seminars are staples on their calendars, and non-denominational bible study takes place weekly. It is essential to nurture the entire person not just parts of them for a full, well-rounded life.

Arches

National Park

Arches National Park comprises 76,519 acres, more than 1.46 million people visited the park in 2022

Busy Bees at Legacy

We have had lots of fun with our volunteers this month, and we would love to have more. We would love to have more volunteers at Legacy Reserve at Old Town. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please join us at the hive. We promise not to sting. 🙂

Exploring Our National Parks

We are heading into our fifth month of our national parks exploration. In May we will be learning about Arches National Park. Our residents have enjoyed themed dinners, performances, arts and crafts, and have learned so much about our national parks system. Covering the different parks have been a highlight of the week each month.

Arches

Double O Arch

The second largest arch within the Devils Garden area. As the name implies, there are two arches here, one large, with a
span of 71 feet, stacked atop a much smaller arch with a 21-foot span. It was formed by downward water erosion from atop the sandstone, rather than from side-to-side water erosion.

Recipe Spotlight:

Layered Fruit & Shrimp Salad

Ingredients:
2 cups watermelon balls
2 cups cantaloupe balls
2 cups honeydew balls
2 cups sliced peaches
2 cups sliced pears
2 cups quartered orange sections
2 cups sliced plums
1 cup fresh blueberries
1 cup fresh strawberries
1 cup cubed pineapple
2 dozen (21-25) count boiled shrimp
2 cups crawfish tails
1 recipe fruity yogurt dressing
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

In a large glass serving bowl, layer fruit by alternating stratas of color. Once all the fruit has been layered, line shrimp and crawfish in a decorative pattern around the edge of the bowl. Top with fruity yogurt dressing and toss the mixture to blend the dressing into the fruit. Sprinkle with pecans and serve immediately.

Fruit is not just for dessert anymore! With its wide range of colors and textures, nothing makes a more beautiful entree salad than layers of fresh or canned fruit. Why not create an interesting and unique summer salad by combining colorful, healthful fruit with fresh shrimp or other seafood?
