"Working for Legacy has been amazing I love ALL the residents”

We are excited to recognize Kimberly Holland, our amazing Lead Concierge, as the Employee of the Month at Legacy Reserve at Fairview Park! Since joining our team in August, Kimberly has consistently gone above and beyond to make residents, families, and staff feel welcome and cared for. Her warm smile, positive attitude, and dedication to service make her a true asset to our community.
Outside of work, Kimberly is a proud mom to a son who plays football, and she never misses a chance to cheer him on from the sidelines. She also has a passion for writing and loves spending quiet time reconnecting with nature—whether it’s at a peaceful lake or a cozy cabin in Tennessee, especially when she’s surrounded by close friends and family.
Kimberly shares that working at Legacy Reserve has been an amazing experience, and she feels truly grateful for how welcoming and supportive everyone has been.
We are so thankful to have Kimberly as part of our Legacy family. Her heart, dedication, and uplifting presence make a lasting impact every single day. Congratulations, Kimberly!

Australian Joy

Alexa, play Down Under, by Men at work.

Released in 1981, “Down Under” quickly became a defining song of Australian identity. With its catchy flute riff and witty lyrics, it celebrates the country’s laid-back spirit, humor, and pride. More than a global hit, it remains an unofficial anthem—an upbeat tribute to Australia’s culture, people, and sense of adventure.

Pets and Seniors

Pet ownership is one of the most common ways older adults interact with animals; over half of adults over 50 have at least one pet. Research has shown that pet ownership can provide important forms of social and emotional support for older adults that can reduce distress, loneliness and improve overall quality of life. One study found that strong attachment to a pet was associated with less depression among older adults.

In addition to pet ownership, animal-assisted interventions such as animal-assisted activities (AAA) and animal-assisted therapy (AAT) are increasingly popular ways older adults are interacting with animals.

Studies have shown that the bond between people and their pets is linked to several health benefits, including:

Decreased blood pressure, cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels, feelings of loneliness, anxiety and symptoms of PTSD.
Increased opportunities for exercise and outdoor activities; better cognitive function in older adults; and more opportunities to socialize.
Studies show older pet-owning citizens have lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels than non-owners, which help reduce their risk for heart disease and decrease their number of visits to the doctor.

Welcome to Australia
Around the World with Atlas

Australia, the world’s largest island and smallest continent, is a land of striking contrasts—from its vast deserts and tropical rainforests to its bustling coastal cities. Indigenous Australians have lived on the continent for over 60,000 years, developing rich spiritual traditions and deep connections to the land. Their art, music, and stories remain an essential part of the nation’s cultural identity today.

European settlement began in 1788 with the arrival of the First Fleet from Britain, marking the start of Australia’s colonial era. British influence shaped the nation’s language, institutions, and political systems, though this period also brought immense hardship to Indigenous communities. Over time, Australia evolved from a collection of colonies into a unified federation in 1901, forging its own democratic and multicultural identity.

Modern Australia is known for its relaxed lifestyle, love of the outdoors, and vibrant cultural mix. From iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Uluru to its world-class art, music, and sport, the country reflects both its ancient heritage and modern dynamism—a place where tradition and innovation coexist under the southern sun.

Resident of the Month

Charles Motes

Charles Motes

Congratulations to Charles Motes
Hey, I’m Charles Motes.
I’ve spent most of my life as a farmer and an all-around country man. Working the land and living close to nature taught me the value of hard work, patience, and staying grounded. There’s nothing quite like watching the seasons change from the seat of a tractor or enjoying the peace of a quiet morning out in the fields.
These days, I still enjoy staying active. Hiking has always been one of my favorite pastimes it’s a great way to get outside, breathe in the fresh air, and keep moving. Whether it’s a trail through the woods or just a walk around the neighborhood, I’m happiest when I’m on the go.
Since coming to Legacy, I’ve really enjoyed being part of the community. I especially look forward to the outings—going to restaurants, trying new places to eat, and spending time with good people makes every day a little brighter. I believe life is meant to be lived fully, no matter your age, and I’m always up for an adventure or a good conversation.

Art and crafts

Arts and crafts are more than just creative hobbies they’re a wonderful way for seniors to express themselves, stay engaged, and connect with others. Whether it’s painting, knitting, scrapbooking, or simple craft projects, these activities bring joy, purpose, and a sense of accomplishment.

For many seniors, creating art can spark memories, stimulate the mind, and even help improve fine motor skills. The process encourages relaxation and reduces stress, while also fostering social connection when shared with friends or family. Most importantly, arts and crafts provide a meaningful outlet for self-expression reminding us that creativity has no age limit.

At Cresent Hospice Group, we believe that nurturing the spirit is just as important as caring for the body. That’s why we love incorporating arts and crafts into our care and community activities. Each project is a chance to bring smiles, spark conversations, and celebrate the unique stories and talents of the seniors we serve.

Congratulations to Jenna

I was born and raised in South Florida. Outside of work I enjoy shopping, baking, traveling, and spending time at the beach.

One of the things I love most about Fairview is the friendly atmosphere—I truly adore the residents, and they feel like family to me. It’s such a rewarding experience to be surrounded by people who bring so much joy and wisdom into my life every day.

Looking ahead, my goal is to graduate from nursing school and pursue my dream of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. I’m so excited to continue growing, learning, and caring for others along the way.
