We are honored to recognize Elizabeth Rosa as our Associate of the Month! She was born in New Jersey and moved to Tennessee at 8 years old. She comes from a big, loving family with four sisters and two furbabies, and she is a devoted mom to her beautiful daughter, Addalynn.
With 8 years of caregiving experience, she brings extraordinary compassion, patience, and dedication to her role. Caregiving isn’t just her career—it is truly her calling. Finding Joy in Every Day: Embracing Gratitude and Positivity
Life is made up of countless moments—big and small—that bring meaning, joy, and connection. Yet, sometimes, it’s easy to focus on challenges, routines, or what we feel we’re missing. That’s why taking time to reflect on gratitude and positivity can be so powerful, especially for seniors who have a lifetime of experiences, memories, and wisdom to draw upon.
Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thank you” for the big things—it’s about noticing the small moments that make life brighter. Perhaps it’s the warmth of the morning sun on your face, the laughter of a friend, the smell of fresh coffee, a favorite song, or even the gentle touch of a loved one’s hand. Each of these small joys adds up, creating a sense of well-being, calm, and happiness that nourishes both body and spirit.
Positivity is about nurturing a mindset that looks for the good, even when life presents challenges. It doesn’t mean ignoring difficulties—it means recognizing your inner strength, celebrating small victories, and appreciating the richness of your journey. When we focus on what brings us joy, it can lift our spirits, deepen our connections with others, and inspire hope for the days ahead.
Here’s a simple way to practice both: Take a quiet moment each day to reflect on one thing you are grateful for. It could be a memory, a kind gesture, a moment of laughter, or even something as simple as a cozy blanket or a warm cup of tea. Over time, these small reflections create a collection of blessings that remind us of life’s richness. Thinking about them can bring comfort, spark joy, and help us focus on what truly matters.
Embracing gratitude and positivity is a gentle, yet powerful way to enhance spiritual well-being. By noticing the good, celebrating life’s small joys, and reflecting on our blessings, each day becomes brighter, fuller, and more meaningful.
Pause for a moment today. Reflect on the many blessings in your life, big and small, and let the awareness of these gifts bring warmth, peace, and joy to your heart. Sometimes, simply noticing is enough to make a day truly beautiful.
Welcome to France
Around the World with Atlas
France is a country built on centuries of history, artistry, and revolutionary ideas. From ancient Gaul and the rise of the Frankish kingdoms to the birth of the modern French state, its story is one of transformation. The foundations of France took shape through the coronation of Clovis in the 5th century, the brilliance of Charlemagne’s empire, and the evolution of a nation that would eventually stand at the center of European culture and politics. Over time, France became known not only for its kings and cathedrals but for a spirit of curiosity and change that shaped the world.
French culture has left an indelible mark across the arts, philosophy, cuisine, literature, and fashion. From the Enlightenment thinkers who reimagined human rights to the painters who transformed visual expression — Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Degas — France has long been a beacon for creativity. Its influence extends into cinema, music, architecture, and the culinary traditions cherished worldwide, from buttery croissants to slow-cooked Coq au Vin. Every corner of French life carries a sense of refinement balanced with a deep appreciation for pleasure, beauty, and daily rituals.
To explore France is to step into a living tapestry of medieval villages, grand boulevards, vineyards, seaside cliffs, and cafés where time seems to slow down. It is a country that invites discovery — whether through the echo of cathedral bells, the quiet glow of a museum hall, or the simple joy of strolling along the Seine. France welcomes visitors not just to see its landmarks but to feel its spirit: a blend of elegance, history, and poetic charm that has captivated the world for centuries.
🐾 The Power of Pet Therapy
Pet therapy has become one of the most loved experiences in senior living, and it’s easy to see why. Animals bring a kind of comfort and happiness that nothing else can match. A friendly pup or a gentle, furry visitor has the power to turn a regular day into something special.
The Wonderful Benefits of Pet Therapy:
- Boosts Mood: A quick visit with a therapy animal can brighten anyone’s day.
- Reduces Stress: Petting an animal naturally calms the mind and eases anxiety.
- • Encourages Activity: Even small movements—brushing, petting, or gentle play—help keep residents active.
- Creates Connection: Pet visits spark conversations, bring back memories, and help residents bond with each other.
- Offers Comfort: Therapy animals provide the purest form of companionship and unconditional love.
And now, we’re taking pet therapy to the next level!

🧠 Dementia Awareness: Understanding, Supporting & Connecting
Dementia affects millions of individuals and families, and learning more about it helps create stronger support, deeper understanding, and more meaningful moments with those who live with cognitive changes. Dementia is not a single disease, but a collection of symptoms that impact memory, communication, and daily thinking. While it brings challenges, it does not erase a person’s identity, emotions, or ability to experience joy, comfort, and genuine connection.
Recognizing Common Signs of Dementia
- • Increasing forgetfulness that affects daily routines
- • Trouble finding words or following conversations
- • Difficulty with planning, organizing, or problem-solving
- • Changes in mood, behavior, or social engagement
- • Confusion about time, familiar places, or recent events
Every individual’s experience is unique, and symptoms may change or progress differently from person to person.
Ways to Support Someone Living With Dementia
Support often begins with patience, understanding, and gentle communication. A few helpful approaches include:
- • Speaking slowly and offering reassurance
- • Reducing difficult choices to avoid frustration
- • Using simple, clear sentences
- • Focusing on feelings rather than corrections
- • Creating comforting routines
- • Enjoying simple activities together, such as music, touch, art, or looking through familiar photos
Even when verbal communication becomes difficult, connection remains possible through tone of voice, facial expressions, and meaningful shared moments.
The Importance of Meaningful Engagement
Individuals living with dementia often respond well to familiar scents, music from their past, soft textures, or old photographs. These sensory experiences can spark recognition, comfort, or relaxation. Activities that support creativity, structure, and familiarity help maintain confidence and dignity, reminding each person that they are valued and understood.
How Families Can Bring Comfort
- • Be present—your voice and warmth matter
- • Celebrate small successes and peaceful moments
- • Share stories without expecting perfect recall
- • Create calm and supportive environments
- • Take breaks and seek encouragement when needed
Although dementia may change how a person interacts, it does not lessen their need for love, safety, and belonging. Understanding the condition allows us to support individuals with compassion, respect, and an open heart.
Here at The Goldton we continue to expand our dementia-friendly programs, education, and engagement opportunities to better support our residents, their families, and our staff.

Georgianna—affectionately known as Georgi—was born in Newark, New Jersey, where she spent most of her life building a dedicated career with the United States Postal Service. After many years of service, she embraced a well-earned retirement, carrying with her a strong work ethic and an even stronger sense of independence. A proud single mother to her two children, Lynne and Stuart, her family roots reach from North Carolina to Tennessee, grounding her in rich history and deep tradition.
Georgianna is a phenomenal cook whose kitchen has always been a place of comfort and joy. Her famous collard greens and irresistible candied yams are legendary among those lucky enough to taste them—dishes made with the kind of love and expertise only years of experience can create. Her talents didn’t stop at cooking; she also enjoyed working part-time as a travel agent, a job that allowed her to pursue a passion for exploring the world. Her adventures have taken her to many countries, with her most recent journey being a memorable visit to Habana, Cuba, just two years ago.
A lively sports fan, Georgianna enjoys football, baseball, and basketball, cheering with enthusiasm for every big play. Her spirited personality has carried her through many chapters of life. At 81, she boldly moved to North Carolina, but after a short time, realized it wasn’t quite the right fit. True to her independent nature, she packed her bags and headed to Las Vegas. When her son expressed concern about the distance, she confidently replied, “Will you let me live until I die?”
After two exciting years in Vegas, Georgianna returned to North Carolina and later chose to settle in Tennessee to be closer to her son. She now calls The Goldton home, where her vibrant energy continues to brighten every room she enters. She has a deep love for live music and entertainment, especially jazz, which speaks to her soulful and spirited nature.
Fun-loving, determined, and full of zest, Georgianna lives life on her own terms—and we at The Goldton are so happy to have her with us
