Crafting Corner:Firefly Jar & Painting

Firefly Jars

Quite a few of our residents have expressed interest in getting to do fun crafts that they can take home so this month as we travel to the Smoky Mountains, we will do two crafts that highlight aspects of Tennessee and North Carolina!

Our firefly jar craft will include glow in the dark paint and string lights! This jar can be taken home to have a little piece of the Smokies with them!

Great Smoky Mountains

Our painting will be of the beautiful Smoky Mountain landscape! We will enjoy a class lead by a professional and get a lovely landscape to take home! Now, you don’t have to be an expert at crafting to come! all are welcome! Space is limited!

*Pictures are for illustrative purposes. Actual piece will vary!!

Dear Athena Column

Greetings from Greece!

Dear Athena Column

My name is Athena and I have lived quite a life! I don’t know much but I know enough and well, I would love to offer advice to anyone who needs it! Send your stories or that of your friend-and I will pick a letter each month and respond with advice! Now, I can’t promise my advice will be the solution, but it will be something you may not have access to-the critique of an uninvolved party! Don’t worry about who I am and DO NOT sign your letter! We want to keep your identity safe!

Jeopardy!

Jeopardy!

Alex Trebek was an icon-a true legend! He ruled Jeopardy for 37 seasons and the show has left a lasting impression on minds everywhere! At our community we are playing Jeopardy every Thursday at 11 in the theatre! We don’t expect you to have all the answers but we do expect you to show up! Come and learn something new and have a grand old time!

Resident of the Month

Jane

Jane, Resident of the Month January 2024 | The Atrium at Boca Raton

Jane has been at our facility for a while now and you can tell just by talking to her! She is poised, elegant, and her personality is unmatched! She knows her way around our facility and treats the staff like family!

What makes the Smoky Mountains smokey? The mist is formed from the vapor given off by all the plants in the mountains. When the vapor is released, the molecules that make up the gas scatter blue light from the sky, giving the fog its blue color.
