Keith Talmadge

Keith Talmadge - Associate of the Month

Keith’s life began in Dover, New Jersey, where he was born. However, he spent his formative years in Port Jervis, New York. As soon as he completed high school, Keith joined the navy and embarked on a journey, visiting various countries. Out of all the places he visited, Spain held a special place in his heart.

Upon completing his service, Keith settled in Long Island, where he worked for RF Cuny and pursued his education at Herbert H Lehman College. Later on, he moved to Florida and started working as an English teacher. It was in 2009 that Keith reconnected with Jennifer through mutual friends and Facebook. Surprisingly, they discovered that they had attended the same school but had never crossed paths. As fate would have it, Keith walked past Jennifer’s house every day on his way to school.

In 2010, Keith and Jennifer tied the knot, combining their lives with the love they shared for their eight rescued dogs. Keith indulges in creative pursuits such as writing short stories and poetry. He is also musically inclined and enjoys playing the guitar. Additionally, Keith has a passion for reading.

One of the things that Keith cherishes the most about his work is the difference he makes in the lives of seniors. Working with them and their families brings about significant changes. This dedication and impact have earned Keith the title of Employee of the Month.

Building Bridges - Children and Seniors

Building Bridges - Children and Seniors

The Building Bridges program aims to create an inclusive and enriching environment that brings together seniors, children, local schools, and churches. By forging connections, we seek to bridge the generational gap and provide a multitude of benefits for both seniors and children. This unique program fosters intergenerational relationships, promotes learning and growth, and enhances the overall well-being of all participants.

Our objective is to:

  • Promote a sense of belonging and purpose for seniors by involving them in the lives of young children.
  • Enhance children’s empathy, social skills, and understanding of aging by engaging with seniors.
  • Facilitate shared learning experiences between seniors and children to foster personal growth and intergenerational knowledge exchange.
  • Create a supportive community environment that encourages mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation among participants.

Ultimately, the Building Bridges program strives to create an intergenerational assisted living and memory care community that thrives on the connection between seniors, young children, schools, and churches. By bridging the generation gap, this program will generate numerous benefits, including enhanced well-being, personal growth, and a sense of purpose for all involved. The cooperation of local schools and churches will expand the scope and sustainability of the program, nurturing a united and compassionate bond.

Annette Bostic

Annette Bostic - Resident of the Month

Annette Bostic was born in Greenwood South Carolina and graduated from school inGreenwood as well. Growing up, she was surrounded by six siblings, two sisters and fourbrothers.

She met her husband Calvin in 1964 and married him one year later in the summer of 1965. Happily married they moved to Bishopville, the smallest county in South Carolina, living only anhour from the beach.

That’s where they lived for two years, with Annette working as a lab techin a yarn mill and Calvin as an accountant. After those two years, they moved to Columbiawhere they lived for four years, and had their first child, a sweet son named Richard, in 1969.

In 1971 Calvin was transferred to Greenville, and in 1973 their second child was born, a beautiful daughter Denise. In Greenville, Calvin was working as an accountant for a large forklift company, which he later bought along with two other friends/partners. Then three years later he and one of the partners bought out the third’s share, and continued to operate it.

In 2019 Calvin passed away, and Annette started thinking about senior independent living. Her and her daughter started searching and met with Legacy Reserve sales team before the Independent Living building was finished, and she moved in on January 31, 2021 as one of the earliest residents in the community.

Benefits of Community

There are several notable trends in senior living that have emerged in recent years. These trends aim to enhance the quality of life, independence, and overall well-being for older adults. Some of the key trends in senior living include:

Wellness and Active Aging: Senior living communities are increasingly focused on promoting wellness and active aging. These facilities offer a range of amenities such as fitness centers, swimming pools, walking trails, and organized exercise programs to support residents in maintaining physical and mental health.

Technology Integration: Senior living communities are incorporating technology to improve safety, convenience, and communication.

Person-Centered Care: Person-centered care is an approach that emphasizes tailoring care to the individual needs and preferences of each resident. Senior living communities are moving away from a one-size-fits-all model and adopting personalized care plans that respect residents’ autonomy and dignity.

Social Engagement and Community: Recognizing the importance of social connections, senior living communities are placing greater emphasis on creating vibrant social environments.

It’s important to note that trends in senior living vary across regions and communities. As the aging population continues to grow, it is expected that new trends will continue to emerge to meet the evolving needs and preferences of older adults.
