The Tudor Rose

A timeless symbol of unity, the Tudor Rose combines the red rose of Lancaster and the white rose of York—emblems of rival houses during the Wars of the Roses. When Henry VII united the two through marriage, this floral symbol became a lasting emblem of peace and the English crown.

“I like working at Legacy Reserve because everyone here creates such an accepting and comfortable environment for me”

Congratulations to Walker!
I am 19 years old and have lived in South Carolina for my entire life. I do not mind staying so close to home, as that is where I can always find familiarity and family. Interacting with friends and family has always been so positive for me, and I hold so much value in that I am especially glad to have this opportunity to work here. It likely would not have been possible if it weren’t for my brothers, Atticus and Cole, who worked here first and were prepared to help me feel comfortable. My lovely girlfriend, Lily, has also helped me greatly and is a strong motivator for me, and I am thankful to know her and be able to talk to her. I am also so thankful for my family at home who are always supportive, and my grandmother who assists me in so many ways that I’d be lost without.

As a person who is not very sociable, I am so grateful for my position that it allows me to be comfortable, and speaking with the residents here helps me so much to improve my speech, as they are so respectful and accepting. My surroundings here are so comfortable, and everyone has been very accommodating to me since I first arrived.

I greatly enjoy spending time playing video games and creating different forms of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art. I plan to attend Clemson in the fall to study Biological Sciences. I would like to use that to work with animals, although I am excited to see where my studies lead me once I am in the middle of it all and independent.

English Heart

Alexa play "Time" from "Pink Floyd"

From the legendary album The Dark Side of the Moon, “Time” strikes like a reckoning. With its iconic clock intro and David Gilmour’s searing guitar solo, the song captures the creeping anxiety of wasted youth and the inevitability of aging. A timeless anthem wrapped in progressive rock mastery, The Dark Side of the Moon spent over 18 years on the Billboard charts, becoming one of the most enduring albums in history. “Time” remains its haunting heartbeat — a song that asks not if the years are passing, but whether we’ve noticed.

Senior Activities

It’s important for seniors to get involved in activities because staying active helps improve both physical and mental health. Regular participation in social, physical, or creative activities can boost mood, reduce feelings of loneliness, and keep the mind sharp. Activities like walking, gardening, playing games, or joining clubs also promote a sense of purpose and connection with others. As people age, staying engaged in enjoyable routines helps maintain independence and overall well-being, making life more fulfilling and enjoyable.

Welcome to England
Around the World with Atlas

England’s story begins long before it was called by that name—when Celtic Britons inhabited its misty hills and Roman legions reached the edge of their empire in a land they called Britannia. Though Rome left its mark with roads, baths, and Hadrian’s Wall, the far north—home to fierce tribes and enigmatic druids—remained unconquered. After the Romans withdrew, waves of Saxon settlers shaped a new identity, giving birth to a nation where myth and history often blur.

At the heart of this early tapestry is the legend of King Arthur, the once and future king said to have united Britain with the help of Merlin the wizard, the sword Excalibur, and the noble Knights of the Round Table. Whether myth or memory, these tales reveal England’s deep-rooted fascination with destiny, honor, and the magic of storytelling—traditions that would shape its greatest literary voices.

From the poetic grandeur of Shakespeare to the epic realms of J.R.R. Tolkien and the modern wizarding world of J.K. Rowling, English literature has enchanted readers across centuries. And in music, few countries have left such a global imprint. With sounds ranging from the rebellious rock of The Rolling Stones to the dreamscapes of Pink Floyd, and the timeless genius of The Beatles and David Bowie, England’s cultural output is as powerful and enduring as its history.

Congratulations to Sharron Keith
Hi, my name is Sharron Keith! I have a big love for tennis and art—they’re both great ways for me to stay active and express my creativity. I’m also a huge fan of arts and crafts, whether it’s painting, drawing, or making something unique with my hands.

When I’m not on the tennis court or doing something creative, you’ll probably find me enjoying a snack—Coke is my absolute favorite! I also have a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. They bring so much joy and comfort into life.

Whether I’m creating art, staying active, or just relaxing with a cold Coke and a furry friend nearby, I always try to enjoy the little things in life.

Sensory Room

Sensory room offers many positive benefits, especially for individuals with sensory processing needs, anxiety, or developmental challenges. It provides a safe and calming space where people can explore sights, sounds, textures, and movement in a controlled way. These environments can help reduce stress, improve focus, and support emotional regulation. For children or adults with autism, ADHD, or sensory sensitivities, a sensory room can be a powerful tool for learning and relaxation. It also encourages self-awareness and independence, allowing individuals to better understand and manage their sensory experiences.

Tips and Tricks

Keeping seniors’ minds active is essential for maintaining cognitive health and overall well-being. Engaging in activities like reading, puzzles, games, or learning new skills helps stimulate the brain and keep memory sharp. Mental exercises can slow down age-related cognitive decline and even reduce the risk of conditions like dementia. Staying mentally active also boosts confidence, encourages curiosity, and provides a sense of accomplishment. Whether it’s through conversation, creative hobbies, or brain-challenging games, keeping the mind moving helps seniors stay independent, alert, and more connected to the world around them.

Emmalee Volk

My name is Emmalee Volk. I was born and raised in East Aurora, a small town just outside of Buffalo, New York. In 2016, I moved to Greenwood, South Carolina, where I now call home. I’m an only child, but I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by cousins, which made my childhood full of connection and fun.

I have a one-and-a-half-year-old Great Dane named Ashtro he’s my pride and joy. I enjoy all kinds of music, but I was raised on country and classic rock, which will always have a special place in my heart.
I have many passions and hobbies, but helping others especially children is something I’ve always been drawn to. I’ve been a certified CNA for eight years and have volunteered with my local fire department for about a year. I recently completed training for basic EMT and plan to take my national exam by the end of the year. My ultimate goal is to become a paramedic and travel to all 50 states.
Another passion of mine is photography. I love capturing life’s special moments and helping people see the world through a creative and meaningful lens. Traveling is also something I deeply enjoy—one of my most memorable trips was to Uganda, Africa in 2014, and I’ve also journeyed down the East Coast from New York to Louisiana.
What I appreciate most about Legacy is the supportive atmosphere. The staff is always willing to step in and help where needed, and that sense of community means a lot to me.

"I like living at Legacy Reserve because that everybody is so considerate and caring”

Mrs. Marie Anderson was a New Englander and for most of her life, growing up in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, studying to be a Music Teacher at the New England Conservatory in Boston, and living in the beautiful (but cold!) Northeast Kingdom of Vermont for most of her adult life. She then moved to Cape Cod, near her son Mark, until she set off on the “Maiden Voyage” of the Legacy Reserve to be near her daughter, Julie, when it opened in January 2021. The Legacy Reserve has been a wonderful place to live!.

Every season has something special at the Legacy Reserve Senior Living. In the spring & summer, you’ll find Marie gardening in the back – the flowers are her special contribution to brighten up the back patio. She loves the many programs that Legacy offers, especially the Water Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, and any type of music and dancing activity or performance. Marie loves themed
parties and never misses a chance to don a costume: a Victorian lady at the High Tea Party, a flapper at the Great Gatsby Party, a Pink Lady at the Grease Movie Party. Marie was crowned the Prom Queen at the Senior Prom Party 2023. During the Christmas Holidays, you will find her dressed up as the cutest Santa’s Elf, helping Santa & Mrs. Claus and leading the Holiday Carolers.

Marie wants to thank all the caring staff and the fantastic friends who make the Legacy Reserve a warm and welcoming home.
