Skyler Vaquera

"At the end of the day, helping others is what truly makes me happy, and I’m so grateful to be part of a team where I can do just that"
Hi, my name is Skyler! I’m 21 years old and was born on October 31, 2003. As the oldest of five siblings—four sisters and one little brother—I’ve learned a lot about responsibility and strive to be a positive role model.
In 2022, I graduated high school, becoming the first in my family to attend college. I’m currently studying Business Marketing at Greeneville Tech, with plans to transfer to USC. My ultimate dream is to work in the fashion industry—whether for Vogue, another major fashion company, or even launching my own brand. Fashion is my biggest passion! I love collecting archival pieces, especially vintage Betsey Johnson dresses, and most of my wardrobe is pink. It’s my favorite color because it creates a sweet and welcoming vibe (and looks great with my hair!).
I joined Legacy at the end of last summer, embracing something new. I’ve always loved helping people, and this job has given me the opportunity to do just that—something I take great pride in.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my amazing boyfriend, creating new outfits from my collection, sewing unique pieces, playing video games, and thrifting and antiquing (because vintage clothes and furniture were just made better!). Of course, I also love online shopping!

Discovering Greece
Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it’s often called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.
Capital: Athens
Official language: Greek
Population: 10.41 million (2023) World Bank
Dialing code: +30
Area: 50,949 mi²
Currency: Euro (€) (EUR)
GDP (nominal): 2025 estimate 253 billion
Greece is considered the cradle of Western civilization, being the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, Western literature, historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, theatre, and the Olympic Games.
Greek cuisine is characteristic of the Mediterranean diet, which is epitomised by dishes of Crete. Greek cuisine incorporates fresh ingredients into local dishes such as moussaka, pastitsio, classic Greek salad, Fasola’d, spanakopita and souvlaki. Some dishes can be traced back to ancient Greece like skordalia (a thick purée of walnuts, almonds, crushed garlic and olive oil), lentil soup, retsina (white or rosé wine sealed with pine resin) and pasteli (candy bar with sesame seeds baked with honey).
Greek Heritage
Around the World with Atlas
Greece, the cradle of Western civilization, is a land where ancient history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culture come together. From the awe-inspiring ruins of the Acropolis of Athens, where the Parthenon stands as a symbol of classical Greece, to the mystical sanctuary of Delphi, once considered the center of the world in ancient times, Greece is rich in heritage and mystical past.
The whitewashed cliffs of Santorini showcase Mediterranean charm. Whether exploring ancient ruins, sun-drenched islands, or dramatic landscapes, Greece captivates with its timeless beauty and profound legacy.

Health Screenings for Seniors
Skin cancer
A basic skin cancer screening is as easy as a dermatologist or other health care provider inspecting your skin for suspicious spots and moles. But the benefit can be significant — you can detect melanoma (a type of skin cancer that kills more than 10,000 people a year) while it is in its early, most curable stage, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation (SCF).
The SCF encourages all adults to see a dermatologist once a year for a full-body, professional skin check. If you’re at an increased risk of skin cancer because you have fair skin, a history of tanning or family members who have had melanoma, ask your provider if you should be screened more often.
Blood pressure
Almost half of adults have high blood pressure, or hypertension, reports the American Heart Association (AHA). Yet many don’t realize that their blood pressure is elevated. That’s why it’s known as “the silent killer.” In fact, it’s the primary cause of death for nearly 500,000 Americans per year, according to CDC data.
The date on your birth certificate is its own risk factor for high blood pressure, notes the AHA. As you age, your blood vessels gradually lose some of their elasticity. That alone can contribute to increased blood pressure and raise your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
Cholesterol levels
Like blood pressure, your cholesterol numbers are an important measure of your risk of heart disease, according to the AHA. You’ll get your blood drawn at your doctor’s office or a lab and find out your total cholesterol numbers, as well as your HDL (“good”) and LDL (“bad”) cholesterol numbers.
Armed with this information, you can talk to your doctor about lifestyle choices that affect your cholesterol, including diet and exercise, as well as medications to get those numbers in the right place. High cholesterol has no symptoms, so a screening is the only way to know where you stand.
Colon cancer
Colon cancer is a very preventable, treatable disease, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). If you’re in good health and are younger than 76, you’re advised to have regular screenings, which can help your doctor catch and remove polyps before they progress to cancer.
Screenings for colon cancer come in several forms, including stool tests and visual exams, such as colonoscopies. Talk to your provider about your specific situation and make a plan for colon cancer screenings.

Ginger Ferris

“I like living at Legacy Reserve because everyone is very friendly and we all look out for each other, just like a family” ”!
Virginia “Ginger” Ferris was born in Dodge City, Kansas, but her roots trace back to Waco, Texas. As the daughter of a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force, Ginger’s family moved frequently. She was an only child until her sister, Paula, was born when she was 10. While living in Germany at 14, she had a classmate named Priscilla—the same Priscilla who later married Elvis Presley!
Ginger attended Oklahoma State University, where she met her husband on a blind date. They later married, had two daughters, and adopted a son. Their family settled in Tampa, Florida, for 20 years before moving to a ranch in Colorado in 1990. There, they raised horses, llamas, angora bunnies, and chickens.
After her divorce, Ginger purchased a beautiful Victorian home in Salida, Colorado, in 2000. She became active in her sorority, started a lunch group and card-making club, and was an engaged member of the Presbyterian Church, where she participated in many outreach programs. She also nurtured a love for gardening, creating a stunning garden in Salida.
A lifelong artist and creator, Ginger has explored spinning, weaving, pottery, jewelry making, and many unique forms of alternative art.
In September 2023, Ginger joined the Legacy Reserve family to be closer to her daughter, Sarah, and has since made many new friends. We’re so happy to have her as part of our community!
