Honoring Our Veterans at Lake Howard Heights

Lake Howard Heights celebrated Veterans Day by honoring our residents who bravely served with a special ceremony. Our veterans give true meaning to the work we do in our independent and assisted living community.

Veterans make up about 20 percent of our community. We are proud to provide an exceptional lifestyle to the over 30 veteran residents and their spouses who choose to live with us.

There aren’t too many communities that have the honor of serving as many veterans here in Polk County as Lake Howard Heights,” says Brayan Antunez, Sales and Marketing Director for Lake Howard Heights.

This year’s honored guests included:

A regular at our Veterans Day service, Mayor Dantzler has attended for the past eight years.

It is such a pleasure to be here and to help honor the veterans and our fallen heroes,” Dantzler told the Winter Haven Sun.

World War II veterans James “Jim” Cross and Danny Vega received high honors during the ceremony. Mayor Dantzler gave special recognition to our veterans of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and Desert Storm.

Coast Guard veteran Mark Balleu kicked off the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a prayer from Navy veteran Paul Royal.

Navy veteran George Seagreaves added a history lesson of remembrance with the story of the poppy. He finished his testimony with a profound amount of gratitude for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

“A chance of us representing those who passed away, we have a wonderful gift. Those who sacrificed their lives for all of us, I thank you very much,” said Seagreaves.
