Alexa play "Lluvia de Cuerdas" from "Mariachi Vargas"

Featured on the 1986 album Mexicanísimo, this recording stands among the most beautiful treasures of Mexican folk music. Created as a special edition for the World Cup, it captured the hearts of FIFA staff, team directors, players, and visitors from around the globe. Behind its unforgettable sound was Don Pepe Martínez, the masterful composer and musical director known as the “Mozart of Mariachi,” whose spirit lives on in every note.

Celebrating Life Every Day: The Power of the Senior Events and Activities

At the heart of every thriving senior community is a calendar full of meaningful, joyful, and engaging activities. Events and social gatherings aren’t just about passing the time—they’re opportunities to connect, express creativity, stay active, and most importantly, have fun!

Staying Social, Staying Strong – Social interaction plays a huge role in emotional well-being. Group events like bingo nights, craft sessions, or music socials give residents the chance to laugh, share stories, and build friendships. Whether it’s a themed holiday party or just a casual coffee hour, these moments help fight loneliness and foster a real sense of community.

Creative Expression & Lifelong Learning – Art classes, storytelling groups, gardening, and cooking demonstrations are more than just hobbies—they’re ways to keep the mind active and the spirit uplifted. Trying something new or rediscovering an old passion can boost confidence and bring a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

Movement for the Mind and Body – Staying physically active is key to overall health, and our senior events reflect that. From gentle chair yoga to afternoon strolls and even dance parties, movement-based activities promote strength, flexibility, and energy—all while being fun and social.

Moments That Matter – Seasonal events like Valentine’s dances, Easter egg painting, fall festivals, or “Style with a Smile” fashion moments add extra sparkle to the year. These are the days that bring joy not only to residents but also to families and team members.

We’re proud to create a space where every resident feels valued, included, and inspired. With every stretch, laugh, brushstroke, or bingo call—we’re not just filling days, we’re celebrating life.

With joy and community in every moment,
Leilani

Viva México !!
Around the World with Atlas

A Land of Spirit, Color, and Eternal Stories, Mexico is more than a country—it’s a heartbeat, a song carried by the wind across deserts, jungles, mountains, and beautyful beaches. A place where ancient civilizations whisper through pyramids and murals, and modern life dances to the rhythm of a strong and unique cultural heritage.

The word “México” comes from the Náhuatl words “Metztli” (moon) and “xictli” (navel or belly button), meaning “the belly button of the moon.” The Mexicas pronounced it “Meshico.”

According to legend, the Mexica people were the last of the nomadic tribes to arrive in central Anáhuac (yep, that was the ancient name for the heartland of what’s now Mexico). They came from a mythical island called Aztlán—which is why they’re also called Aztecs. They were searching for a sign sent by their main god, Huitzilopochtli: an eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus, devouring a snake. That was the sacred place where they were to build their city.

And they did find it—right in the middle of a vast lake called Texcoco. Legend says they took refuge on that small patch of land in the lake and founded their settlement, Tenochtitlan, around 1325. By the time the Spanish arrived in 1519, they were stunned by the sight of a majestic, dream-like well-organized metropolis—Tenochtitlan—one of the largest cities in the world at that time.

Celebrating the Heart of the Home: Mother's Day at our Community.

Mother’s Day is a time to pause and honor the women who have filled our lives with unconditional love, wisdom, and warmth. Here in our community, we are surrounded by mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers-and each one has a beautiful story to tell.

Whether it’s a memory of rocking a newborn to sleep packing lunches with little notes tucked inside or offering a steady hand and a soft voice during life’s tougher moments, the love of a mother leaves a lasting imprint. Many of you have nurtured families, held communities together, and helped shape generations. Today and every day we celebrate the strength and grace you’ve shared with the world.

This Mother’s Day, we encourage everyone -residents, team members, and visitors-to share a memory, a thank-you, or even just warm hug with the incredible women in our midst. Let’s make this day as special as the hearts we’re celebrating.

To all the mothers in our community: your love is your legacy, and it continues to bloom in all of us.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Recipe Spotlight:

The Best Healthy Guacamole

Ingredients:
5 avocados ripe, see notes.
1/2 cup red onion, finely diced
1 jalapeno, finely diced taste for heat, you may want more or less
1/3 cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
2 limes, juiced about 4 tbsp of fresh lime juice
1 tsp coarse salt kosher salt is fine

Directions:
Prepare your ingredients by finely chopping the red onion, jalapeno, and cilantro, set aside.
Scoop the flesh of the avocados into a large bowl. Begin to mash the avocado using a potato masher or a fork. Try not to turn the avocados into complete mush, you want some texture, chunks are good. Add red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, juice of 1 lime, and 1/2 the salt. Continue to mash, stir.
Taste for seasoning. Add the other lime, and a bit more salt if needed (we always use the entire tsp of salt with 5 avocados).
Top with additional cilantro, serve immediately.

Notes:
Your avocados should be ripe, yielding to gentle pressure all over.
Add as much or as little heat (from the jalapeno) as you like.
Store leftovers in the fridge, top guacamole with extra lime juice and plastic wrap touching the guacamole to prevent browning.

Resident of the Month

Clydia Hughes

Clydia Hughes

We’re delighted to shine this month’s spotlight on of our wonderful residents, Clydia! A proud Alabama native, Clydia and her husband bring a warm, down-to-earth spirit to our Madison at the Range family.

Clydia has a heart full of loved and a lifetime of stories-many of which begin on the farm where she and her husband once lived. She lights up when talking about her beloved children and grandchildren and is always ready to share a smile and a photo (or two!) of her beautiful family.

But what truly makes Clydia shine is her incredible talent as a master quilter. Her quilts are more than just fabric and thread-they are stunning pieces of art, each stitched with care, history, and heart. Her husband even built a custom ceiling quilt-hanging rack so she could work on her masterpieces more easily at home. Now that’s teamwork!

Clydia has proudly shared her quilts with many, each one telling its own story. Whether gifted to a family member or displayed for others to admire, every quilt is woven with her deep love for her family and joy for life!

We are so lucky to have Clydia and her husband as part of our Madison at the Range community. Their warmth and creativity truly help make this place feel like home.
