A Life Woven with Purpose

Originally from Fort Payne, Alabama, Clydia’s passion for needlework began at a young age, sitting at her mother’s feet as she sewed for their large family. That early inspiration led to a lifetime of creating—first with quilts, now with embroidery.

During her years on the family farm with her husband Alvin, she found time between chores and raising children to stitch her way into a new legacy. Over the decades, Clydia has created more than 50 quilts—many now cherished heirlooms in the hands of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

“These will be around long after I’m gone,” she shared during her recent television appearance. “Each stitch carries a story.”

From Our Community to the Screen

Clydia’s artistry recently took center stage when she was featured on Day to Day with Mariah, a regional morning show that spotlights inspiring local residents. She was invited to share her work and her story—proving that passion knows no age limit.

During the segment, viewers were treated to a glimpse into her creative process and the meaningful memories woven into every piece. Her humility, sense of humor, and love for craft lit up the screen.
