Shawn Green, Associate of the Month

We are pleased to announce that our November employee of the month is Shawn Green. Shawn has been a part of the Madison family for 19 years. She always excels in her role providing for not only the residents but the staff as well. Shawn is one of our four very talented cooks, and her outstanding food assures no one goes hungry. When she isn’t here in the kitchen, she’ll most likely be seen spending quality time with her family while we anticipate her next dish. Thank you, Shawn, for all the years you’ve spent with us and for the great meals along the way.

Happy Thanksgiving 2024

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday in the United States, and Thanksgiving 2024 occurs on Thursday, November 28. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists from England and the Native American Wampanoag people shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies.

For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress designated one or more days of thanksgiving a year, and in 1789 George Washington issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation by the national government of the United States; in it, he called upon Americans to express their gratitude for the happy conclusion to the country’s war of independence and the successful ratification of the U.S. Constitution. His successors John Adams and James Madison also designated days of thanks during their presidencies.

2024 Election Season

The U.S. voting system, available to all U.S. citizens, is the main voice the general public has to influence in the selection of our representatives. Keep up to date and let your voice be heard! States allow voters who cannot or do not want to vote in person to cast mail-in or drop off ballots through absentee voting or vote-by-mail programs. Absentee and mail-in ballots can be cast for both primary and general elections.
Absentee voting
Although most states have absentee voting, deadlines and rules on who can take part vary. Some states require an excuse to vote absentee. Others do not. In most states, you must request an absentee ballot to vote in each election. But in some states, you may qualify to sign up to receive absentee ballots for every election. Learn if your state offers permanent absentee voting.

Vote-by-mail
Instead of absentee voting programs, some states offer vote-by-mail (also known as all-mail) programs. They automatically send ballots to all registered voters in the state before Election Day

Resident of the Month

Enzo Frustaci

Enzo Frustaci, Resident of the Month

For November, we are pleased to announce that Enzo Frustaci is our resident of the month. Enzo is originally from Italy where he spent the years of his youth before moving here. He absolutely loves his daily cups of coffee and to go shopping. Enzo is always pleasant to talk to and if you need a buddy, he’s more than happy to have a chat on the front porch. When Enzo isn’t in his room, you’ll find most likely find him outside having a cigarette and enjoying the scene. Thank you, Enzo, for being such a nice person and for all the kindness you spread around the community.
