Events Spotlight
Carol and Ed McCracken celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary last month. Their love for each other, their family, church and friends are shown each day in the way they live their lives. Carol and Ed met during medical school and within the first week Ed knew that he loved Carol. After getting married, they had two children, three grandchildren and two great grandsons. We are so happy to be able to celebrate their anniversary with them.
Associate of the Month
Paula Perez
Congratulations to Paula Perez for being named October’s Employee of the Month! She is a native of Florida but hopes to one day move to a big city up north. As our concierge, she gets to see many residents and their families daily and she has grown to love everyone at Madison. During Paula’s free time she loves traveling to Chicago, trying new restaurants and listening to music.
German Music Legacy
Alexa, play Beethoven’s Symphony Number 9, Opus 125, Second Movement, Molto Vivace.
The second movement of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony bursts with restless energy and rhythmic drive. Marked Molto Vivace, it contrasts the solemn grandeur of the opening with a lively scherzo full of syncopated pulses and dramatic turns. By the time he composed this masterpiece (1822–1824), Beethoven was almost completely deaf, yet his imagination transcended silence, giving the world music of unparalleled vitality. The scherzo’s bold rhythms and jubilant spirit showcase Beethoven’s genius for combining structure and passion, paving the way for the symphony’s monumental choral finale.
Halloween Spooktacular
What does true love look like? Melvin and Shirley Traub are a testament to true love they have been married for 75 years. They have one daughter and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Melvin served in the military during World War II and Shirley was a home caretaker. Whenever you see one the other is close behind. They are a loving couple who care for their family and community. Happy 75th anniversary!
Welcome to Germany
Around the World with Atlas
Germany’s history stretches back to ancient tribes such as the Saxons, Franks, and Goths, whose resilience left a mark on Europe’s foundations. From the crowning of Charlemagne in 800 AD to the rise of the Holy Roman Empire under Otto I, the medieval period saw the growth of a diverse cultural and political landscape. Moments of transformation, like Martin Luther’s Protestant Reformation, sparked new ideas that influenced the world far beyond Germany’s borders.
In the centuries that followed, the rise of Prussia and the eventual German unification in 1871 brought together a patchwork of regions into a modern and power nation.
Though the 20th century was marked by hardship and division, after two awful wars, Germany was in ruin and divided by a wall, years of division goes by until the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the re-unification of Germany opened the path to a new chapter. Today, Germany stands as a symbol of resilience and renewal—celebrated for its music, philosophy, literature, and innovations, as well as its role as a cultural and economic leader in Europe.
Sea Life

Last month the residents went to enjoy the Orlando Sea Life Aquarium. They enjoyed seeing the beautiful sea life in the recently renovated aquarium. One of the most unique aquatic lives we saw was the epaulette shark that walks on land! The epaulette shark is a small shark that can walk between tide pools, making it a skilled predator. These sharks can tolerate low oxygen levels for short periods, allowing them to forage in tidal pools that are cut off from the ocean.
Who Wore It BEST?
Who wore it best? Last month we celebrated National Assisted Living Week. Both our residents and staff had a great week of dressing up, games, entertainment and food. We would like to thank our many sponsors that donated gifts and food. If you haven’t been to a Madison at Clermont celebration you are missing out. The residents and staff are looking forward to the upcoming holidays. Please make sure you are keeping up with your calendar dates to be at our next event.

The Valknut
The Valknut, a symbol of three interlocked triangles, is tied to Odin in Norse mythology. Found on ancient stones and artifacts, it represents the mysteries of life, death, and the warrior’s passage to the afterlife, other schoolars sugest that the 9 points/intersections represent the 9 worlds in the Norse Mythology and how they are some how interconected.
