Shark Valley

If you want to see the vast beauty of the Everglades and more alligators than you can count, then Shark Valley should be your #1 stop! Shark Valley is in the heart of the Everglades freshwater marsh. It boasts a rich array of wildlife, including abundant alligators, wading birds, turtles, and various other species like herons, egrets, and ibises.

Hurricane Preparedness

Madison at Clermont is prepared and ready for this year’s hurricane season. We made sure that our supplies, staff, residents, van, and generator are ready for the storm season. Thank you to the City of Clermont Fire Department for providing our staff and residents with hurricane preparedness training. Hayley Wheeler Fire & Life Safety Educator from Clermont Fire Department did a great job personalizing her presentation for our facility. We look forward to having other training courses that the City of Clermont Fire Department offers.

America’s Everglades is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States, and also the only place in the world where American Alligators and American Crocodiles coexist in the world

Meet the Doctors

Nurse Practitioner Ana Marques
Dr Viola Jacob

Doctor Nordquist has worked with Madison at Clermont for many years, but he is downsizing his practice and will only service patients at his office. We will now have Dr Viola Jacob and Nurse Practitioner Ana Marques serving our residents. This duo team will take care of the general medical needs of our residents and bring about some changes within our caregiving processes. Please welcome them to our team!

Sharna Smith

Welcome Sharna

Please welcome Sharna Smith who recently took on the role of the Wellness Director for Madison at Clermont. Sharna recently moved from New York to Florida. She started at Madison as a nurse, and now she oversees the department. Sharna is a mother of four children and recently she became the grandma of a baby boy. We are so happy to have Sharna as part of the Madison at Clermont family. If you see Sharna around, we ask that you get a selfie or picture with her and post it on social media. Each week we will pull a winner from social media. Make sure you tag #Madisonatclermont when posting on social media. The grand prize will be given during our Hot Pink Party on July 11, 2024.

Recipe Spotlight:

Grilled Grouper with Mango Salsa Recipe

Ingredients:
2 mangos, diced into 1/2” pieces
2 jalapeño, seeded and minced
1/2 red onion, diced into 4” pieces
1/8 cup fresh cilantro, minced
1 tsp lime zest
2 oz fresh lime juice
2 garlic cloves, minced
Sea salt, to taste
8 grouper or red snapper fillets
Avocado oil
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Directions:
Combine all the salsa ingredients. Cover, and refrigerate.
Brush both sides of the fish with oil and season with salt and pepper.
Preheat grill to medium-high heat (350° to 400°) and make sure your grates are clean or the fish will stick.
Cook fish with lid closed for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or just until fish begins to flake and is opaque in the center.
Serve with mango salsa.

Dawn Vitellaro Associate of the Month

Each month we pick an employee of the month and this month Dawn Vitellaro from the care staff has been chosen. Dawn goes above and beyond, and she has helped in all the departments in some way. She is always pleasant and patient with Residents and other staff. Dawn is a true team player, and the residents love her. We are so grateful to have her on our team. When not working she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves the beach when she is off. Dawn has been a health care professional since 2012. She is also a native of Pennsylvania and was raised in the Philly area.

Resident of the Month

John Philbin

John Philbin Resident of the Month

This month we are honored to have John Philbin as our resident of the month. John has served in our central Florida community for many years as an Orange County Sheriff police officer. We would like to thank him for his dedication to our community. John is now retired and now calls Madison at Clermont home. We are so happy that he has joined our family here at Madison at Clermont.
