Icelandic Vibes

Alexa, play “Don't be afraid, you have just got your eyes closed” from Múm

Finally We Are No One is the second studio album by Icelandic band Múm, the band composed the songs for the album Inside a lighthouse in the Westfjords, Galtarviti, one of the least populous and remote areas of Iceland.

The album was release in 2002, Múm is well known for the use of multiple instruments, all sort of strings, winds, percusions, flutes, choirs and uncommon instruments, their music is an intricate and whimsical soundscape that feels both intimate and otherworldly. The album captures the essence of untouched beauty and serene isolation, a timeless ode to the remote magic of Iceland.

Brazilian Art

The residents love to show case their artwork and last month we worked on Brazilian paintings. We had a great local artist, Antonio, come to work with our residents on creating some colorful parrots. Linda and Jane are showing off their beautiful art made during STEM class in January. Make sure you come out this month to see what fun things we will get to work on.

Jólabókaflóð

(Icelandic Christmas book flood)

A Love for Literature:
Iceland boasts the highest number of published authors per capita. The Icelandic tradition of gifting books during Christmas, known as Jólabókaflóð (Yule Book Flood), reflects their deep connection to storytelling and literature.

Forever Love

We have all heard of love at first sight, but many times true love takes years to develop. On the other hand, some marry their high school or college sweetheart and live happily ever after. Here at Madison at Clermont we have both. It is an honor for us to have so many married couples living here and sharing their true love with others each day. Our youngest couple is Bobbi and Jack Bulmer; married September 26 and married 54 years.

Up next is Carol and Ed McCracken; married September 2, they have been married for 57 years. We now jump ahead to Gerald and Bernice Kole; married October 28 and married for 70 years. But believe it or not that’s not the longest marriage. Second place for the longest married couple goes to Shirley and Melvin Traub; married August 5 for 74 years. Selma and Jerome Rosenberg, who got married on the 4th of July and have been together for 77 years, is our couple married the longest. When you see our married superstars around the Madison, congratulate them for their blessed marriages.

ICELAND
Around the World with Atlas

Iceland’s dramatic landscape is shaped by its active volcanism and vast glaciers. It is home to over 130 volcanoes, including Eyjafjallajökull, and Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull.

During summer, Iceland experiences the Midnight Sun, with almost 24 hours of daylight. In contrast, winter brings long nights, creating the perfect setting for Northern Lights displays.

Resident of the Month

John Berndobler

We all look for a career that makes us happy and through which we can leave an everlasting legacy. Our resident of the month is John Berndobler who found his purpose as he became a church planner. Mr. Berndobler traveled throughout the United States and overseas ministering and building churches along the way. He worked with Campers on Mission, building 17 churches with his hands. He truly led a purpose driven life that has touched thousands all over the world. We are so grateful to have John Berndobler as part of our Madison at Clermont family.

Associate of the Month

Alexia Vitellaro

Our employee of the month, Alexia Vitellaro, is a natural born leader. A fast learner, effective in taking care of resident needs, and helpful to other departments throughout the building, Alexia was recently promoted to dining trainer.
