Associate of the Month

Latron B.

Latron B Associate of the Month

Latron is our June Employee of the Month. Latron is from Thomasville, Georgia, and is a proud graduate of Thomasville High School. He’s a dedicated father to three children, aged 18, 22, and 24, and happens to be the brother of our Dining Services Director, Shawn. Latron credits Shawn and his uncle David as his main sources of inspiration.
When he’s not hard at work ensuring that our residents and community enjoy a clean and fresh living environment, Latron loves to unwind by fishing or catching up on some TV, particularly football – where he passionately supports his favorite team, the Florida Gators. He loves seafood, especially crab legs, and his brother’s cooking. His favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, because he loves creating memories with his family.

Latron shared that one of his favorite aspects of working at Legacy Ridge at Brookstone is being in the company of our residents all day. He finds joy in knowing that his efforts contribute to their happiness and satisfaction. The residents’ smiles and appreciation brighten his days and validate his dedication to keeping their living spaces impeccable.

Thank you to Latron for his unwavering commitment, teamwork, and dedication to maintaining the beauty and freshness of our community. We are grateful to have him on our team. Keep up the fantastic work, Latron!

Dare to Be Great

We double-dog dare you to celebrate Dare Day on June 1. While it would never be advisable to accept a dare to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge, it is always appropriate to dare to be great. President Theodore Roosevelt said, “Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure… than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.”

The first step in daring to be great is to have a positive attitude and let go of any fear of failure. It may be true that society largely judges us on our outcomes, whether we succeed or fail at work or at home, when instead we should all be measured by the fortitude of our character. No matter the outcome of taking a risk, a dare, or an endeavor, as long as you stay self-confident and maintain self-love, then great things are possible.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only minutes from downtown Atlanta Located in Lithia Springs. The 215-acre George Sparks Reservoir is popular for fishing and provides a pretty setting for feeding ducks and picnicking. A wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War.

Beyond the mill, the trail climbs rocky bluffs to provide views of the beautiful rapids below. Additional trails wind through fields and forest, showcasing ferns, magnolias, wild azaleas and hardwoods. Park rangers lead informative hikes to these areas throughout the year.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Tallulah Gorge State Park is a 2,689-acre (1,088 ha) Georgia state park adjacent to Tallulah Falls, Georgia, along the county line between Rabun and Habersham Counties

Recipe Spotlight:

Mixed Berry Spinach Salad With Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing

Ingredients:
5 ounces Baby Spinach
1 cup Strawberry (sliced)
½ cup Blueberry
½ Red Onion (thinly sliced)
1 Sweet Apple (cored, halved and thinly sliced)
1 cup Candied Walnuts (chopped)
1 cup Strawberry
¼ cup Balsamic Vinegar
¼ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1 tablespoon Honey
1 clove Garlic (minced)
¼ teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon Pepper
⅔ cup Feta Cheese (as desired)

Directions:
For the dressing, push a straw through the strawberries from the tip to the green top to remove the hull. (Or you can cut it off with a knife!) Add the rest of the dressing ingredients. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate. Cut strawberries, apple, and onion into slices.
Combine all the salad ingredients in a large bowl. Drizzle with desired amount of dressing and toss to coat. (Spinach wilts easily, don’t add dressing until ready to eat!) Sprinkle feta cheese on top and serve.
