Teamwork makes the dream work

You know the saying, “Do what you love, Love what you do”? Well, we here at The Goldton at Venice think we have a pretty awesome team to come to work with. Sure, we get busy, do we run around with what seems like a gazillion things on our to-do lists, absolutely, but we have loads of fun too. We look out for each other, we back each other up when called upon. Our Maintenance Director Chris and his trusty Assistant Nate, surely stepped up outside of their usual job descriptions when they stayed afterhours to call BINGO for our Bangin’ Blueridge Bingo Night. Our “Celebrity Callers” have even been requested for our next evenings’ festivities. Thanks guys for getting in character with your Park Ranger attire and making it an enjoyable night for our Residents. Love you both.

Dear Residents and loved ones,
I was reading an article about change the other day. It was interesting change is something we all strive for; however, we all have a difficult time with change. We tend to get very comfortable with where we are. Talking about change and doing something about it are two very different things. As a community we sometimes need to make changes for the better of the community as a whole.

We are making changes to our building in a few ways. For example, by adding Alexa smart capability. We will have classes and information very soon with details on the changes in how to call for assistance by caregivers, ordering items from kitchen, staying in touch with your family member and loved ones through the app. Another example was the change to the Grove Dining room in Assistant Living. We made big changes in how the food is presented and how we serve the food. This change was hard for some; however, it is important to make changes when needed. Sometimes change is good—we need to stay positive and look to the good in all things, this is my motto and I hope you all can continue to live your very best life here. As always, I am here for any suggestions, comments, and concerns on better ways to have a wonderful community life. I look forward to a bright and wonderful future.

The Hopi Tribe considers the Grand Canyon a gateway to afterlife. There are over 1,000 caves within the park’s territory with only 335 being documented.

Greetings from Our Wellness Director

Greetings from Our Wellness Director

Hello Family and Friends!
It looks like the March Ides are
a-coming! We are going to celebrate the Irish this month and will have the building dressed in green!

Last month we had many activities and frivolities! We had our Mardi Gras Parade down Main Street and through AL and Memory Care. The residents gave me a little hand in decorating our float. Even though the activities department won as the best float, Baby Jesus in his gold crown was loved by all. Valentine’s Day was also a big hit. We had many activities to celebrate the day of Love. Haley came back and dipped strawberries in chocolate and the residents go to enjoy them after they dried as dessert (well, those that are allowed too. We did have sugar-free options too).

And lastly, we had a blast celebrating the Super Bowl. The big game was on the TV and they had a party up in Bernards Bar and was open to all residents.

Until next month!

Lynn Jensen

Lynn Jensen IL Resident of the Month

Jensen Ms. Lynn was one of our very first residents to move in to our brand new building here at The Goldton with her husband Phil. Lynn was born in Montreal Canada and lived in Toronto for a bit before moving straight to Fort Myers on the advice of a close friend. Between her and Phil they have 6 daughters and now 6 grandkids, 5 boys and 1 girl. Initially in the insurance business in Bradenton, Lynn now helps her husband, a part of The Artist Guild of Ana Maria, with his photography. She stays active in our community and participates in our Christmas in July and when we have resident collections on display. Lynn says they took a National Geographic Tour of The Galapagos Islands as part of their bucket list but would love to do it again. On March 1st, Lynn and Phil will be celebrating 51 years of marriage and we wish them all the love in the world.

Associate of the Month

Savier Standifer

Savier Standifer Associate of the Month

Affectionately known as “Z”, Savier has been with us here only a short few months but has come in and has made a wonderful addition to our Goldton family. When asked about himself, Z says he is originally from Sarasota, FL and has been a caregiver for about four years. While working at Lakewood Ranch Hospital. Is when he decided he wanted to help in a different area. (He is such a patient and gentle soul with our folks). He likes all genres of music but if he had to choose, it would be Salsa and Reggaeton. Things he likes to do outside of work are anything artistic, chill at the tattoo shop or relaxing at the beach watching the sunset. Glad you’re here Z, our residents are lucky to have you.

Charles Sherman MC

Charles Sherman MC Resident of the Month

Charlie is a fan favorite here at The Goldton for sure. Coming from Boston Mass, Charlie served for our Armed Forces in the NAVY. He, his wife and six boys lived full lives while Charlie’s career was in banking. When he retired, he was the Bank President. Charlie loved fishing but tends to stay on shore these days and is best seen cutting up a rug dancing at all of our parties we have here with for our residents. Love you Charlie!
