Associate of the Month

Marisol Barreiro

Celebrating Our Amazing Team Member – Marisol Barreiro!

Marisol joined our team in December 2024, and since day one, she has shown incredible dedication and commitment to our residents and their well-being. Her kindness, patience, and warm heart brighten every room she enters. Marisol goes above and beyond to make sure each resident feels cared for and valued, and her positive energy inspires everyone around her. We are so grateful to have her as part of our family here at The Canopy.

Scottish Heart

Alexa play "Sun" from "Donovan"

Appearing on Donovan’s 1967 double album A Gift from a Flower to a Garden fused psychedelic folk with childlike wonder, marking him as a true Scottish poet-storyteller.

The song is a radiant hymn to light and life, this track captures Donovan’s blend of psychedelic vision and folk simplicity.

Welcome to Scotland
Around the World with Atlas

Scotland: The Land Beyond the Wall
When the Roman Empire pushed north into Britannia, it met fierce tribes the legions could never conquer. To mark the limit of their reach, the Romans built Hadrian’s Wall, and further north, the Antonine Wall — yet beyond lay the untamed lands we now call Scotland.

By the 8th century, Scotland began to take shape as a kingdom, often in conflict with its southern neighbor, England. Centuries of wars, heroes like William Wallace, and an enduring sense of independence defined its story. In 1707, Scotland formally united with England, creating Great Britain, which later grew into the United Kingdom alongside Ireland.

Still today, Scotland remains proudly distinct — with its Gaelic roots, tartans, castles, and legendary landscapes reminding the world of a culture that was never fully subdued.

Painting and Fun

Our residents let their creativity shine through painting!
They expressed emotions, memories, and joyful moments—one brushstroke at a time.
Painting is not only a fun and engaging activity, it also brings wonderful benefits for our residents:

  • Stimulates memory and concentration
  • Encourages communication and self-expression
  • Improves fine motor skills
  • Boosts self-esteem and reduces stress
  • Every stroke tells a story, and every color reflects their beautiful spirit!

Coffee & Donuts with Our Executive Director

Our residents had the pleasure of sharing a warm and meaningful moment with our Executive Director, Nick Seidl. Over coffee and donuts, they enjoyed great conversations, laughter and connection. It’s always special when leadership takes the time to connect personally with the people who make our community so vibrant. Moments like these remind us why we do what we do.

Around the World with Atlas!

We continue our journey through the grand and glorious England 🇬🇧, and today we had a royal celebration as we crowned our Kings and Queens of Memory Care and Assisted Living!

It was a day filled with laughter, smiles, and a touch of English charm—complete with cheers from our residents and staff. Long live our Kings and Queens!
