Community News

Community News

In this month’s news, we have an important update to share. Tracy Ford-Howard, our Wellness Director, who has been a vital part of our team, will be leaving us as she transitions to a new position outside of our community. We are deeply grateful for the care and commitment she has shown during her time with us. At the time of this writing we are actively searching for a new Wellness Director. Along with the news of Tracy’s departure we have a few reminders for our residents.

Transportation for medical appointments is available on Tuesday mornings and Thursday mornings and afternoons. This curb-to-curb service ensures that you get to your appointments safely and on time. If you need transportation, please sign up at the concierge desk or with Alison.

For those interested in joining outings, the sign up sheets are located on the counter in the downstairs common room. Whether it’s a shopping trip, a visit to a local attraction or a special event, be sure to sign up early to secure your spot.

We also offer several religious services throughout the wee that all residents are welcome to participate in. On Tuesdays we have Bible Study in the morning and Music with James in the afternoon. Wednesdays we offer Rosary and on Sundays we have Sunday Service with Pastor Rick. With the exception of the Rosary, these services are non-denominational and offer a way to connect in fellowship.

Lastly, our Salon is open every Friday. Enjoy a shampoo and a cut by the very talented Sandy! See the concierge to make appointments! We encourage everyone to take full advantage of these opportunities and to stay engaged with the community.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park’s 415 square miles (265,807 acres) encompasses a spectacular range of mountain environments. From meadows found in the montane life zone to glistening alpine lakes and up to the towering mountain peaks, there is something for everyone to discover.

Assisted Living Week

Assisted Living Week

We will be celebrating Assisted Living Week from September 8th through the 13th , the theme of which is Inspiring Generations. The week will be all about honoring our residents and associates and creating joyful moments together.

We kick of Assisted Living Assisted Living Week on Sunday, the 8th, with a special Grandparents Day event at 2:00pm. Families are invited to join their loved ones for light refreshments, live entertainment and a chance to capture a family photo taken by a professional photographer.
On Monday, we’ll take a nostalgic journey as residents stroll down our curated Hallway of Memories, filled with photos and momentos from the past. This reflective walk is sure to spark conversations and fond memories.

Tuesday is all about celebrating cultural and family traditions. We encourage residents and staff to dress in cultural attire and share stories about their heritage. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about and appreciate the diverse backgrounds within our community.
Wednesday will feature our Wisdom Awards Ceremony, where we honor the wisdom and life experiences of our residents and associates.
Thursday is a fun filled day where everyone is invited to dress up to showcase their favorite decade. Whether it’s the roaring 20’s or the groovy 70’s, let’s bring some nostalgia into the present!

Finally, on Friday we’ll look toward the future by creating a time capsule. Residents and staff are encouraged to contribute a small item or note that represents something meaningful to them. We’ll cap off the week with a Family Movie Night at 6:00 pm, where everyone can relax and enjoy Inside Out 2 together. We look forward to celebrating this special week with all of you!

Upcoming Events

In today’s digital age, technology plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life of our residents. From keeping in touch with family, through video calls to letting residents know about upcoming activities, the benefits are immense. However, with increased connectivity comes the responsibility of ensuring cybersecurity to protect information and maintain privacy.
Cyber threats can range from malware and phishing attacks to identity theft and data breaches. Malware includes viruses and spyware that can infiltrate devices, while phishing attacks often appear as legitimate emails or messages designed to steal personal information. Understanding these threats is the first step in safeguarding against them.
Some good cybersecurity practices are using a strong password, installing updates which often times include patches for security vulnerabilities that could be exploited by cybercriminals and using antivirus software.
Once a month we provide residents with technical support to help them navigate their devices safely. This includes assistance with setting up security features, troubleshooting issues and education about ongoing cybersecurity threats.

Recipe Spotlight

Beignets & Berries

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water (120° to 130°), divided
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) quick-rise yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 3-1/4 to 3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Oil for deep-fat frying
  • Confectioners’ sugar
  • Berries and whipped topping, optional

Directions:
Beat butter, sugar, salt and cinnamon until crumbly. Beat in 1/2 cup water and evaporated milk. In another bowl, dissolve yeast in remaining 2 tablespoons water; add to milk mixture. Beat in egg until blended.

Add 2 cups flour; mix until well blended. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky). Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover; refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

Bring dough to room temperature. On a floured surface, roll dough into a 16×12-in. rectangle. Cut into 2-in. squares. In a deep cast-iron skillet or deep- fat fryer, heat oil to 375°. Drop beignets, a few at a time, into hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 1 minute per side. Drain on paper towels. Dust with confectioners’ sugar. If desired, serve with assorted berries and whipped topping.
