Elaine was born in Waterville, Maine. She moved with her family to Oakland, Maine when she was 7 years old. Her father ran the mill in Oakland during the war, while her mother was busy raising 9 children. Her oldest sister helped support the family working in the town as a singer. Elaine is the 3rd oldest of 5 girls and 4 boys. She attended Williams High School.
After graduating high school, she began her life-long career working with the State of Maine where she worked until she retired. She tells the story of going to Florida with a friend and falling in love with the “busy-ness” of the area, so she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida after retirement.
After living in Florida for 30 years, Elaine decided to move to Birmingham, Alabama to be closer to her daughter. She moved into Monark Grove Greystone in January 2023.
When asked what she likes about Monark Grove, she stated, “The staff really does a great job.”
