Lorenzo Dorse, Executive Director | The Goldton at Southaven

Welcome to all our residents, families, and visitors! It seems as if we were just celebrating the beginning of 2024 and now, we’re halfway through the year…time is flying!!

I want to send huge congratulations to our employee of the month Bonita Williams and resident of the month Frank McArthur. Ms. Bonita has only been working at our community for a short time but has made a huge impact on our community from day one!

In August, children in the Desoto County area will return to school, and I’m sure many parents are thrilled about that! Here at The Goldton we have many exciting things planned to include celebrating National Watermelon Day and National Beer Day for our beer lovers. We are continuing to focus on hydration as August is historically one of the hottest months of the year. Be on the lookout for our activities calendar and more exciting things coming to our amazing community.

Trip to Historic Desoto Museum

Trip to Historic DeSoto Museum

Think museums are just for school trips? Think again!

Going to a museum or art gallery is a fun break from daily life. These places are more than just places to see art and old things—they’re also places to meet people and learn new things. They let you connect with different cultures, times, and ideas, which can help you think in new ways and get creative.

More and more museums and galleries are tailoring their services to the needs of older visitors. They often offer special events and tours that make the visit more fun and interesting. No matter if you prefer looking at art or learning about history, it’s a great way to keep your brain active.
