James Breland

Mr. James Breland was born February 10,1927, to the parents of Clifton and Onie Breland in McDonald, Ms… Mr. Breland had a sister that passed before he was born. After James Breland was born his parents moved to Linwood, Ms… James Breland attended Linwood School he graduated from high school. After high school Mr. Breland attended East Central Junior College in Decatur, Ms., where he earned his associate of arts degree. Mr. Breland furthered his education by going to Delta State College earning his bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Later he went to New School of Theology. Mr. Breland taught math for a year at West School in West Ms. before becoming the director of the Baptist campus ministry at Delta State College. Mr. Breland also ministered at some of the Baptist churches in his community. Mr. Breland married his wife Billie Wasson and from that union they had a daughter. Mr. Breland served in the military during the end of WW II where he was a clerk for in the United States Army. Mr. Breland religion of choice is Baptist, and he attends Lindsay Lane Church. His hobbies were attending basketball games and traveling with his wife. He recalls that his best trip was to Alaska with his wife. Mr. Breland plays the piano and sings hymns. The thing he would tell his younger self is finish what you started. The one thing he likes about The Goldton at Athens is that the community is nice to everyone and that the staff is kind to everyone.
