Patricia Parmer was born Patricia Ann Walkenhorst in Pinckneyville, Il. She married Robert Parmer in 1957 and quickly had a daughter and 2 sons, each born in different states due to U.S. Navy transfers. Pat was primarily a homemaker, but after her children grew up, she completed an associate’s degree and worked at the local college. She is a lifelong Southern Baptist. After Pa was widowed in 2014, she started a widow’s support group through her church (Lindsay Lane Baptist) who met monthly for food and fellowship. Pat enjoys genealogy research and, over the years, has compiled and maintained details of ancestors on both sides of her extended family. Other hobbies include sewing, reading and answering Jeopardy questions correctly.Ms. Barbara and her husband Bobby lived in the Athens area their entire marriage, and while they did not have any children of their own they had many that were like their adopted children. She worked in the school system and speaks fondly of all of the children she encountered. She speaks more highly of her beloved great-nephew, Logan! Him and his dad, Jim, are the highlight of Ms. Barbara’s week when they come and visit and check on her.
Our community as a whole voted Ms. Barbara Stinnet as our Resident of the Month and she couldn’t be more deserving of it.
