Father’s Day

Oak Mountain

Boredom Buster's

Boredom Buster's
Boredom Buster's

Every Friday I make a set of boredom busters to keep them busy over the weekend. The boredom busters have a variety of puzzles like sudoku, rebus, crossword, and word search and more. I know everyone in here likes something different, so I try to have something for everyone.

Daily Exercise

Our residents sometimes don’t start their day until they have their daily exercise. The stretch and balance is their favorite exercise. These ladies have such a good time exercising. I have even incorporated meditation after the exercise in order to help them relax and get heart rate back to normal.

AL State Parks

The Alabama State Parks Division operates and maintains approximately 48,000 acres of land and water in Alabama, from Gulf Coast beaches to Appalachian Mountains

Puzzle Room

We never know who we’re going to see in the puzzle room. Our residents go into the puzzle room in between activities or going into the dining room for lunch or dinner. We even have family members that come in and help their loved one put puzzles together.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is the state agency responsible for the conservation and management of Alabama’s natural resources including state parks, state lands, wildlife and aquatic resources.

Recipe Spotlight:

Mixed Berry Spinach Salad With Strawberry Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing

Ingredients:
5 ounces Baby Spinach
1 cup Strawberry (sliced)
½ cup Blueberry
½ Red Onion (thinly sliced)
1 Sweet Apple (cored, halved and thinly sliced)
1 cup Candied Walnuts (chopped)
1 cup Strawberry
¼ cup Balsamic Vinegar
¼ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1 tablespoon Honey
1 clove Garlic (minced)
¼ teaspoon Salt
¼ teaspoon Pepper
â…” cup Feta Cheese (as desired)

Directions:
For the dressing, push a straw through the strawberries from the tip to the green top to remove the hull. (Or you can cut it off with a knife!) Add the rest of the dressing ingredients. Blend until smooth. Refrigerate. Cut strawberries, apple, and onion into slices.
Combine all the salad ingredients in a large bowl. Drizzle with desired amount of dressing and toss to coat. (Spinach wilts easily, don’t add dressing until ready to eat!) Sprinkle feta cheese on top and serve.

Month Celebrations

Before

After

The men here at The Goldton at Athens were treated to free haircuts and shaves. Most of our men participated in the haircuts and shaves. I would like to thank Cari Walters from Great Clips for coming out to The Goldton to treat our Goldton men too free haircuts and shaves. After their haircuts and shaves later that night they were treated to a bar-b que rib and potato dinner.
