Sounds of Peru

Alexa play "La Malagueña" from "Juan Diego Flórez"

La Malagueña Salerosa is one of Mexico’s most beloved traditional songs—a beautiful example of the huapango genre.

In his album Bésame Mucho, a stunning compilation of Latin America’s most cherished songs, Peruvian tenor Juan Diego Flórez delivers a powerful and heartfelt rendition.

La Malagueña demands both technical mastery and emotional nuance—qualities that Flórez brings in abundance, no doubt he is one of Peru’s national treasures.

Juneteenth Celebration & It's Importance!

The holiday commemorates a pivotal turning point in American history. On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger, accompanied by approximately 1,800 federal troops, arrived in Galveston, Texas, formerly part of the Confederate States of America. Setting the stage for what would become the most popular celebration of Black emancipation in the United States, he took over the state and enforced Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863.
