This month, we are shining the spotlight on a very special member of the Wildcat Senior Living family\u2014Monica! With a warm smile, a caring heart, and a genuine passion for helping others, Monica brings something truly special to our community every day.
Monica was born in Tampa, Florida, but South Carolina has been home since 2001. Although she loves living in South Carolina, she always enjoys returning to Tampa to visit her hometown and reminisce about where she grew up.
Family is one of the most important parts of Monica\u2019s life. She has been married for 20 years and is blessed with five children\u2014three boys and two girls\u2014as well as a three-year-old granddaughter whom she adores. Her six-year-old son, Edgar, holds a particularly special place in her heart. Born at just seven months and weighing only 2 pounds and 14 ounces, Edgar has been a fighter from the very beginning. Today, he is a smart, caring boy who loves helping others and often lends Monica a helping hand when she is caring for someone.
Monica is also an adventurous spirit who loves to travel. She has visited 29 states and three countries, with a goal of someday visiting all 50 states and exploring as many countries around the world as possible. Her recent trip to Guatemala was especially meaningful, as she enjoyed the beautiful scenery, scenic drives, delicious food, and, most importantly, quality time with family.
Photography is another passion of Monica\u2019s, especially when it comes to capturing moments with her children. She loves taking pictures so that her family can look back years from now and remember all the fun and special memories they shared. She also loves driving and road trips, enjoying the scenery while turning up her favorite Mexican country music!
Monica began her assisted living career in 2017 as a concierge, a role she continues to enjoy today. Her work in senior living has also given her valuable knowledge that she was able to use when caring for her grandfather whenever he needed her.
Monica says she truly loves working at Wildcat and feels at home here. She enjoys interacting with our residents, listening to their wonderful stories, and greeting everyone with her best smile. She believes you never know what someone may be going through, and sometimes a simple smile can make a tremendous difference in someone\u2019s day.
Outside of Wildcat, Monica can often be found at home or helping members of the Hispanic community as a translator. Helping others and making a difference is something she is truly passionate about, and she plans to continue doing so for as long as she can.
We are so grateful to have Monica as part of the Wildcat family. Her compassion, positivity, dedication, and beautiful smile make a difference every day.
