Please join us in celebrating Barbara Slough, our Resident of the Month! Barbara says one of her favorite things about living at The Oscar is the wonderful people she has met. She loves helping others and appreciates that there is always something to do, keeping her busy and engaged. She especially enjoys seeing the staff each day and says they have become like her best friends.<\/p>

Living at The Oscar has enriched Barbara\u2019s life by giving her more opportunities to socialize and helping her get back into hobbies she loves. She is incredibly creative and enjoys jewelry making, watercolor painting, and crafting. Barbara especially loves making necklaces and earrings to match her outfits and creating handmade pieces for others. She also enjoys playing bingo, one of her favorite activities at The Oscar.<\/p>

One of Barbara\u2019s proudest accomplishments is her time serving in the United States Air Force, where she worked in safety and CO. She built a strong training record, learned valuable life lessons, and was even deployed to England, an experience she remembers fondly. Barbara grew up in Southern California and worked at JCPenney before joining the Air Force.
Barbara\u2019s advice to anyone considering senior living is to remember that it may feel different at first, but to get out, socialize, make friends, and ask for help when you need it. She encourages others to come out of their rooms and get involved, sharing that The Oscar can feel like family once you make yourself comfortable.<\/p>

When asked what makes her happiest about life at The Oscar, Barbara says, \u201cWe are always laughing and giggly here.\u201d She loves that everyone tries to make each other smile and that there are so many good days to enjoy. Barbara, thank you for bringing your creativity, kindness, and joyful spirit to The Oscar.
