Resident of the Month: Congratulations, Carl Norris!
We are proud to recognize Carl Norris as our Resident of the Month! Since joining our community, Carl has become a vibrant and active presence, always eager to connect with those around him.
For Carl, the best part of life at The Oscar is the people\u2014both the wonderful staff and his fellow residents. He finds great fulfillment in hearing the diverse backgrounds, educations, and stories of his neighbors. His advice to anyone considering a move to senior living is simple: \u201cBe prepared to meet many interesting people and take advantage of the amenities and activities; they will keep you busy if you choose!\u201d You\u2019ll often find him practicing what he preaches, participating in our various exercise programs or enjoying a meal in the dining room.
A Life of Service and Dedication
Carl\u2019s journey is one of incredible achievement and service. Born in Louisiana and a Texan since the age of three, he was the first in his family to graduate from college, earning a degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M. His dedication extended to his country, serving in the Texas International Guard for 32 years, and to his creative side, playing in a band for 15 years.
Family remains the center of Carl\u2019s world. He and his wife, Nancy, have been married for 64 years, and he is immensely proud of his son, daughter, four grandchildren, and great-grandson. Among his most cherished memories are family trips to California and the decades spent building a life with Nancy.
Strength and Perspective
Following a serious collision several years ago, Carl has faced the challenge of physical recovery with remarkable grit. This experience taught him that life can change in an instant, fueling his determination to stay as active as possible and regain his strength.
Guided by his core values of faith, family, and nation, Carl finds his greatest joy simply by being around happy people.
