Please join us in congratulating Barbara Miller, our Resident of the Month!

Barbara was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and spent most of her childhood growing up in El Paso. During her first marriage, she traveled extensively with her husband while he served in the military, spending several years in Europe and visiting destinations throughout the United States. Throughout her career, Barbara worked building circuit boards, became a production control supervisor, and even operated her own in-home daycare, caring for children from six months to three years old.

In her two months at The Oscar at Georgetown, Barbara says it has truly begun to feel like home. She has met wonderful friends and describes the residents as friendly and welcoming. Her advice to anyone considering senior living is simple: “Choose The Oscar!” She has experienced happiness, friendship, and genuine care since moving in.

Barbara enjoys playing Bunco, Hand and Foot Canasta, and learning new card games—something she hadn’t tried before but is now enjoying. Although traveling was a longtime interest, she has always found joy in being around good people and helping others. She says the staff have made her feel welcomed and supported through their kindness, assistance, and thoughtful check-ins.

Some of Barbara’s most cherished memories are the births of her three sons, Lonnie, Michael, and Frederick. Growing up as an only child, she wanted her children to have siblings to share life with. When asked what she is most proud of, Barbara shared that she is 83 years old, has had a very good life, and is happy.

Being chosen as Resident of the Month brought Barbara overwhelming joy and gratitude—even bringing tears to her eyes. The most important lesson she has learned in life is to be kind and show love, qualities she demonstrates every day.
Congratulations, Barbara! We are so happy you are part of The Oscar family!
