Words to the Wise

Physical Benefits
Regular activities help maintain strength, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health, which can reduce the risk of falls, fractures, and chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis. Exercise, like walking, swimming, or yoga, also supports mobility and independence in daily activities, allowing seniors to maintain autonomy longer.

Cognitive Benefits
Engaging the mind through activities such as puzzles, reading, learning new skills, or playing strategy games can stimulate the brain, potentially slowing cognitive decline and reducing the risk of dementia. Lifelong learning and mentally challenging tasks improve memory, attention, and problem-solving skills, supporting overall cognitive health.

Emotional and Mental Health Benefits
Participation in enjoyable activities can enhance mood and reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Activities that provide a sense of accomplishment or purpose, such as volunteering or engaging in hobbies, contribute to higher self-esteem and emotional resilience.

Dear Residents, As we move into this exciting new season, I’m thrilled to share that wonderful things are happening here at The Goldton at Venice! We will see new changes all around. Our community continues to grow and thrive, and I want to personally invite you—and your friends and family—to join us for our Open House on Saturday, November 8th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will be an incredible opportunity to showcase the vibrant lifestyle we enjoy every day and to welcome others into our community.

In addition, we’re declaring November as “Acts of Kindness Month.” Throughout the month, we’ll celebrate the power of kindness—both big and small—and share ways to spread positivity throughout our community. Stay tuned for more details and ways you can participate. Thank you for all you do to make The Goldton at Venice such a warm and welcoming place to call home. I look forward to celebrating with you soon!

Warm regards,

Laura Blakeman, Executive Director.

A note from the Business Office

Hello everyone from the desk of Ann St. Hilaire in the Business Office

As the Goldton at Venice is filling up with new residents and Meredith is planning several exciting new evening activity trips such as Dinner Out, Beach Sunset Viewing and Theater Tickets to name a few, it is important to talk about our transportation guidelines. We here at the Goldton at Venice work very hard to provide as much transportation to our residents as we possible can. Please remember that all requests for transportation appointments must be completed on the transportation request form and processed through the Concierge Desk with complete destination addresses and appointment times. Karla the Lead Concierge manages the transportation requests. She works closely with our drivers to get appointments approved and logs them into the transportation calendar so that we can stay the drivers accordingly. Please do not go directly to the driver, especially after they have gone home for the day, as they do not have the calendar with them. Our transportation schedule is Monday through Friday from 9am to 3 pm. Holidays excluded. Transportation requests need to be submitted 48 hours in advance. It is best to get them into concierge as soon as you know you have an appointment because the calendar does fill up fast.

Transportation to Sarasota is on a very limited basis, as Sarasota is out of our normal travel area due to traffic. Early appointments, late appointments and Sarasota appointments outside our normal driving hours are approved on a case-by-case basis.

Also, Monthly rent statements are generated on the 15th of every month for the following month’s ent. The due date for rent is the 5th of the month. Rent is considered late if paid after the 11th of the month. The late charge per the lease agreement is $250.00. If you need help outside the normal rental dates, please see Laura or me to discuss other options.

As always, we enjoy everyone and are happy to have you as a part of the Goldton at Venice Family! Best wishes for a happy fall season!

Ann St. Hilaire.

Social Benefits
Group activities, clubs, or team exercises foster social interaction and connection, which are critical for preventing isolation and loneliness among seniors. Strong social networks are linked to better mental health and can improve longevity.

Examples of Beneficial Activities
– Physical: Walking groups, swimming, tai chi, yoga, light resistance training, or dance classes.
– Cognitive: Crossword puzzles, chess, book clubs, language classes, or creative arts.
– Social & Community Engagement: Volunteer work, senior
center activities, community gardening, or group volunteering projects.
– Creative & Expressive: Painting, music lessons, crafts, or storytelling, which combine cognitive stimulation with emotional expression.

Welcome to Australia

Around the World with Atlas

Australia, the world’s largest island and smallest continent, is a land of striking contrasts—from ancient deserts to modern coastal cities. Home to Indigenous cultures over 60,000 years old, it carries deep spiritual ties to the land. British colonization began in 1788, shaping Australia’s language, institutions, and society. Over time, the nation grew from its colonial roots into a vibrant, multicultural democracy.
