Sarah Williams<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sarah was born and raised in Candor, North Carolina on a tobacco farm along with five older brothers and three older sisters. She was born on April 1. She had fun birthdays, sometimes receiving Christmas cards, Valentine Cards, or Sympathy cards instead of birthday cards! She loved them all. They were a close family and remained so even after she moved away. She married Charles Williams, from Star, North Carolina, on November 4, 1950 and subsequently
moved to Aiken, South Carolina for his new job at the Savannah River Plant (Dupont). They
were married 56 years. There they raised two daughters, Debbie (who now resides in Travelers Rest) and Teri (who now resides in Charleston, SC). Sarah has always been active in her church, serving on the Food Committee, teaching GAs, visiting Homebound, Quilting, and volunteering in any way needed. After her girls were in middle school, she went to work at the hospital in Aiken. First she was a switchboard operator and then moved to the billing department and retired from Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She is an excellent seamstress, sewing most of her girls\u2019 clothing for many years, including recital and prom dresses. She continued sewing for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles passed away on December 24, 2008 and Sarah sold her home and 20 acres in the country and moved to a 55+ neighborhood ,Kalmia Landing, in Aiken a few years after. She was very active there, attending socials, taking art classes, attending pot lucks and being an all around great neighbor to all her many friends there. After living independently there for nearly 15 years, she decided it was time to move to an assisted living facility and moved to Spring Park
in January of this year, after living in Aiken for 70 years. She has enjoyed learning more about the area and has been attending Travelers Rest Methodist Church. She is blessed to have 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, some of whom visited Spring Park ahead of her moving in, to make sure it was the right place for their Mema! She is an avid reader and enjoys art and crafts. She is also a fan of the Atlanta Braves and enjoys watching the games.
