Henry Harris<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Henry was born in Fort Valley, Georgia, in January 1936. He was the youngest of three children. From a young age, Henry had a passion for learning and science. He is a proud graduate of Georgia Tech, where he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 1962.
In April 1962, he married Eloise, and they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage. Family and faith have always been at the heart of Henry’s life. Together, Henry and Eloise built a loving family that includes their two children, Robert and Ellen, and three grandchildren, Bowen, Drew, and Sadler. Henry is always their biggest fan and loves offering advice whenever it’s needed.
Henry enjoyed a long and distinguished career in academia. He served as the Head of the Chemistry and Physics Department at Armstrong State College for more than 30 years. During his time at Armstrong, Henry inspired countless young minds and helped shape the futures of many doctors, scientists, and engineers. He still keeps in touch with many of his former students. In 2002, he retired as the Assistant Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Retirement didn’t slow Henry down for long. He enjoyed following the stock market, working in the yard, baking his famous granola, and making his infamous, ever-present turkey bacon. Henry has also been a devoted and active member of both White Bluff Methodist Church and Compassion Christian Church.
Henry is a very laid-back individual. You can usually find him relaxing on the front porch or visiting friends in the lobby. If you don’t see him for a while, chances are he’s cozied up in his recliner with a blanket in his room.
