David and Connie Hix<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

As our Resident of the Month, David Hix joined Legacy alongside his beloved wife, Connie, refusing to leave her side as she bravely faced an unexpected brain tumor. If you were lucky enough to know David and Connie, you already know their love story was the kind people hope for, but few are fortunate enough to experience.<\/p>

Before Legacy, David served in the United States Marine Corps and also dedicated an impressive 43 years of service to Hewlett Packard\/Agilent.<\/span><\/p>

Now, if you\u2019ve met David, you know the grandkids call him \u201cGrumpy\u201d Pop, but don\u2019t let that fool you. Beneath it is a soft-hearted, quietly funny, and incredibly devoted man. Whether it was for his wife, his kids, grandkids, or now his friends at Legacy, David is the kind of person who shows up, stands strong, and would do absolutely anything for the people he loves (including a surprise Krispy Kreme Party).
During his time here, David has made lasting connections, shared plenty of laughs, and kept everyone on their toes(walkers) with his quick wit. While he\u2019ll be leaving Legacy to return to independent living, we\u2019re quite certain this isn\u2019t the last we\u2019ll see of him as he promised to visit often (and plans to get Dan to Bingo).
From the Hix, House and Powell Family:
For our Connie (Chit Chat, Con-Con): We hope to continue making you proud every single day. We find comfort knowing you are with our sweet Miller and watching over us until we get there. Love Always.
\u201cGrief, I\u2019ve learned, is really just love. It\u2019s all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.\u201d
And to the Legacy team, thank you for the unwavering care, compassion, and kindness you\u2019ve shown our family. It has meant more than words can express and will never be forgotten.
