Iftikhar Mammadrahimov, or “Ifti,” is a valued member of our team, and we are thrilled to celebrate him this month!<\/p>

Originally from Sheki, Azerbaijan, Ifti hails from a picturesque town nestled in the northwestern part of the country, along the southern stretch of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. Did you know the capital of Azerbaijan is Baku, and the Caspian Sea forms its beautiful shoreline?<\/p>

Ifti\u2019s dedication extends beyond his professional life\u2014he is a devoted family man. A loving husband to his wife, Zemma, a proud father of two daughters, and a doting grandfather to three grandchildren, family is the cornerstone of his life. His care and devotion are evident in everything he does.<\/p>

Outside of work, Ifti is a talented chef, admired by friends and family for his culinary creations. His ability to craft delicious meals showcases the same dedication and creativity he brings to his role. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and making memories with his loved ones.<\/p>

When asked about his experience working here, Ifti shared:
“I like working at Legacy Reserve because my coworkers are friendly. Despite the language barrier, everyone treats me with kindness, and I really love that. It feels like we are all one big work family.”<\/em><\/p>

One of our very favorite and much-loved residents, is Ann Osborne. Ann turns 104<\/strong> on February 11th. Don’t let her age fool you. Ann is also one of our most active seniors here at Fairview. She participates in bingo, and all of our social events. She also goes on our weekly lunch outings. Ann gets on and off the bus by herself, with supervision but prefers to “do it herself”.<\/p>

She has maintained great sense of humor through the years and always has a smile for everyone. She loves telling the story of when she was a young girl and living on a cotton farm. Her father told her that he’d give her a dollar if she was able to pick 300 lbs. of cotton by days end. Needless to say, Ann was a dollar richer at day’s end.<\/p>

When asked the secret for her longevity, she replies, it’s all about keeping a positive attitude and staying active”.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Iceland, a Nordic island nation, is defined by its dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields. Massive glaciers are protected in Vatnaj\u00f6kull and Sn\u00e6fellsj\u00f6kull national parks. Most of the population lives in the capital, Reykjavik, which runs on geothermal power and is home to the National and Saga museums, tracing Iceland\u2019s Viking history.<\/p>

Iceland was founded more than 1,000 years ago during the Viking age of exploration and settled by a mixed Norse and Celtic population. The early settlement, made up primarily of Norwegian seafarers and adventurers, fostered further excursions to Greenland and the coast of North America (which the Norse called Vinland).<\/p>

The population of Iceland is extremely homogeneous. The inhabitants are descendants of settlers who began arriving in ad 874 and continued in heavy influx for about 60 years thereafter. Historians differ on the exact origin and ethnic composition of the settlers but agree that between 60 and 80 percent of them were of Nordic stock from Norway. The rest, from Scotland and Ireland, were largely of Celtic stock.<\/p>

Iceland’s days get limited sunlight during the winter due to the country’s high altitude. From October to December, an estimated 6 minutes of sunlight are lost each day. The days go from 11 hours long in October to 8 hours in November.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Marge is a native New Yorker who relocated to South Carolina in 2018 upon retiring from a rewarding 45-year career as an Emergency Room Nurse.<\/p>

<\/strong>2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon finely chopped garlic
3 pounds bone-in lamb shoulder or thick chops
1 medium onion, sliced
1\/3 cup brown rice, or rolled oats
6 cups water
1\/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1\/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1\/2 head cabbage, coarsely chopped
3 medium carrots, 1\/2-inch dice
1\/2 cup diced rutabaga
1 cup cauliflower florets, optional
4 medium potatoes, 1\/2-inch dice
Salt, to taste
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste<\/p>

Directions:<\/strong>
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Saut\u00e9 garlic for 1\u20132 minutes without browning. Add lamb and brown on all sides.
Stir in onion, saut\u00e9 briefly, then add rice and water. Bring to a boil, skimming off froth, and boil for 5 minutes.
Reduce heat to medium, add thyme and oregano, cover, and simmer for 40 minutes.
Add cabbage, carrots, rutabaga, cauliflower (if using), and potatoes. Cook for 20 minutes until vegetables are tender.
Remove meat, chop coarsely, and return to the pot. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Gail feels that when she walked through the doors of Fairview Park, she received God\u2019s grace. It has given her hope in her life\u2019s journey and peace in her heart.

Clare Jane McAbee, known fondly as Jane, was a slightly delayed Christmas gift, born on December 27, 1938, in Spartanburg, SC. Raised in Spartanburg, she graduated from Spartanburg High in 1957 and attended Cecil Business School shortly thereafter. Jane attributes much of her wisdom and values to her beloved grandmother, who played a significant role in her upbringing.<\/p>

In 1960, Jane married her charming friend Curtis Nivens, and together they built a beautiful life. They welcomed two children, Tracy and Angela, and eventually moved to Greenville, SC, where they embraced the joys of family life in the 1970s. In the late ’70s, Jane re-entered the workforce, holding various roles that showcased her exceptional organizational skills. From secretary to a school principal to Parish Secretary at Christ Church in Greenville, she excelled in each position. Her career culminated as an Executive Administrative Assistant at Jacobs Engineering, where she worked for 15 years before retiring.<\/p>

Family trips to the beach became an annual tradition, and Jane and Curtis fostered a love for the Grand Strand culture. In the 1980s, they discovered their passion for the Shag dance, South Carolina\u2019s official state dance. Their dedication and talent earned them recognition, and in 2001, Jane was inducted into The Beach Shagger\u2019s National Hall of Fame, followed by Curtis in 2003. Their names and photos are proudly displayed in The Shagger\u2019s Hall of Fame Museum at the Ocean Drive Beach and Golf Resort, as well as on pavers along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.<\/p>

In addition to dancing, Jane and Curtis enjoyed skiing, though the sport took a toll on Jane’s body. Her adventurous spirit and determination have led to a collection of artificial parts, including knee replacements and femur hardware. Despite these challenges, Jane\u2019s resilience shines through, and she approaches life with humor and grace.<\/p>

Today, Jane is a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and a great-grandmother, with another great-grandchild on the way. She finds joy in life\u2019s simple pleasures, from a good book or movie to spending time with loved ones and spreading kindness wherever she goes.<\/p>

Since the passing of her beloved husband in January 2024, Jane has embraced a new chapter of life with authenticity and humility. She is enjoying her time at Legacy Reserve, building connections with her fellow residents and cherishing the supportive community around her.<\/p>

When asked about her experience at Legacy Reserve, Jane shared:
“I like living at Legacy Reserve because the residents and staff are so nice. I enjoy the activities, everyone is friendly, and I never feel alone.”<\/em><\/p>
