During high school, she was head cheerleader and met the love of her life, Ron &#8220;Jazz&#8221; Makawicz. Her yearbook quote, &#8220;She has a thing for Jazz,&#8221; proved true, as the two married shortly after graduation and built a beautiful life together, raising two daughters and a son.<br \/>Determined to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, Marie worked as a school crossing guard and bus driver while continuing her education. Her dedication led her to become both an LPN and later a Registered Nurse. Throughout her nursing career, including her work in hospice care, she touched countless lives with her compassion and kindness.<br \/>After moving to South Carolina, Marie continued to embrace life with strength and resilience, even after the loss of her beloved husband of 40 years. She enjoyed traveling with friends, visiting destinations such as Italy, Alaska, and Ireland, along with many cruises and beach vacations.<br \/>Since retiring in 2003, Marie has enjoyed spending time with her growing family. Born in Pennsylvania, Shirley later graduated from high school in Florida. She married the love of her life, and together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Along the way, she helped raise two stepdaughters and her son, creating a loving family that has grown to include seven granddaughters, many great-grandchildren, and great-greatgrandchildren.
