She has called Legacy Reserve at Fairview Park home for the past 2 years and 4 months. Jan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics and is the proud mother of one daughter and two sons, as well as a loving grandmother to four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.<\/p><p><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">Throughout her life, Jan has enjoyed spending time with her family and expressing her creativity through crafts. She is also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Braves, and Florida State Seminoles. One accomplishment that may surprise people is that she was crowned Sports Queen in high school. Another fun fact is that she designed and built her own retirement home\u2014and she wants everyone to know that she loves hugs!<\/span><\/p><p>What Jan enjoys most about living at Fairview Park is welcoming new residents and visiting with both residents and staff. She especially enjoys sharing her apartment as a model room and loves experiencing each new season with her friends here. When asked what makes Legacy so special, Jan simply said, &#8220;Always making friends.&#8221;<\/p><p>We are so grateful to have Jan as part of our Assisted Living and Memory Care family. Her kindness, welcoming spirit, and joyful personality make our community a brighter place every day. During high school, she was\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">head cheerleader and met the love of her life, Ron &#8220;Jazz&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">Makawicz. Her yearbook quote,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">&#8220;She has a thing for Jazz,<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">&#8221; proved\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">true, as the two married shortly after graduation and built a beautiful\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">life together, raising two daughters and a son.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\">Determined to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse, Marie worked<span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">as a school crossing guard and bus driver while continuing her\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">education. Her dedication led her to become both an LPN and later\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">a Registered Nurse. Throughout her nursing career, including her\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">work in hospice care, she touched countless lives with her\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">compassion and kindness.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\">After moving to South Carolina, Marie continued to embrace life with\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">strength and resilience, even after the loss of her beloved husband of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">40 years. She enjoyed traveling with friends, visiting destinations\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">such as Italy, Alaska, and Ireland, along with many cruises and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">beach vacations.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\">Since retiring in 2003, Marie has enjoyed spending time with her\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 21.6px;\">growing family.
